Everything we talked about on the trade deadline podcast regarding Alexandre Burrows came to fruition on Thursday night.  In Burrows’ debut for the Senators, Burrows scored a brace (two goals for those who aren’t aware) on three shots playing 14 minutes in the 2-1 win over the Avalanche.  I called him a great streamer for this game (streamer success!) and he performed admirably.  Do I think he’s going to be a huge difference maker down the stretch?  Probably not unless he piles up a ton of penalty minutes.  However, I do expect him to be useful.  While the next two games for the Senators are tough matchups, the Senators play the Stars, Coyotes and Avalanche next week.  That is an excellent opportunity to stream Burrows.  I’m even fine with grabbing him now just to make sure you have him for those games.  As along as he stays on the first line, there’s some fantasy value here.  Here’s what else happened the last two nights:

Noah Hanifin – Goal and an assist with two shots.  I think he’s a year away from being a year away.  It’ll be good eventually but it’s going to take time.

Elias Lindholm – Two assists with two shots.  Streamer success!  I think he’ll be a nice late round flier next year who should push 55-60 points if things go right.

Victor Hedman – Two goals with two PIM.  He’s a plus in all categories but Hedman’s true value is coming in assists and STP.  Hedman is looking at 55 assists and 30 STP at his current pace.  He’s a good bet to finish as the #2D this season.

Tyler Johnson – Goal and two assists.  That’s seven points in the last four games for Johnson eliminating any question of whether or not he’s a hold.

Nikita Kucherov – Goal and two assists with three shots and two PIM.  Can someone this good be underrated?  Because it feels like to me that Kucherov isn’t receiving nearly the amount of credit that he deserves for his incredible season.

Ondrej Palat – Two assists.  He’s a nice streamer but Palat isn’t doing enough to be held.

Patrick Kane – Hat trick on five shots.  Monster stretch for Kane with two hat tricks in his past three games.  Who does he think he is, Filip Forsberg?

Nick Schmaltz – Two assists with three shots.  More streamer success! Like the rest of the top six in Chicago, Schmaltz is hotter than a pistol.  I’d use him again tonight against the Islanders and go from there.

Scott Darling – 36 saves on 37 shots in the 4-1 win over the Penguins.  Another huge game for Darling who should be streamed every time he starts.  He also played for the Wheeling Nailers at one point.  Fun factoid since I’m currently writing this in Wheeling, WV.  Wild and Wonderful.

Henrik Lundqvist – 32 saves on 33 shots in the 2-1 win over the Bruins.  Not a bad birthday for The King.

Pavel Buchnevich – Goal in his return from a brief AHL stint.  He played 15 minutes which is enough for me to put The Butcher back on the streaming radar.

Tobias Rieder – Goal and an assist playing 17 minutes.  Bottom end streamer at best right now.

Jack Eichel – Goal and two assists with six shots.  It’s going a bit under the radar given the missed time but Eichel has been terrific this year.  40 points in 43 games with over 4 shots per game?  Thumbs up.  Shoutout to Fungazi for picking him in The Three Point Challenge!

Marcus Foligno – Two goals on five shots.  Played with Eichel in this one so he’s a decent streamer on Saturday.

Evander Kane – Goal on six shots with two PIM.  Evander Kane doing Evander Kane things!

Ryan O’Reilly – Goal and two assists.  Oh, oh, oh, O’Reillyyyy!  Sorry, stupid ad in Buffalo.  RoR has been solid this season, not much to add.  Keep rolling him.

Kyle Okposo – Two assists with a shot.  Left the game with an injury so look for an update over the next day or so.  I’m fine with dropping him if you need the spot.

Sam Reinhart – Goal and an assist with five shots.  The shots have been outstanding lately and he also moved back onto a line with Eichel in this one.  Reinhart is back as an elite streamer.

Aaron Ekblad – Goal on nine shots.  This year has been incredibly disappointing even for me who was lower on him going into the season.  Look for him to be a nice value next season simply because of the amount of people he’s burned.

James Reimer – 35 saves on 36 shots in 45 minutes in relief of Roberto Luongo.  Luongo left the game injured and will be out for at least a week so be sure to grab Reimer immediately.

Valtteri Filppula – Goal on three shots in his Flyers debut.  He centered the second line with Brayden Schenn and Jakub Voracek on his wings (both assisted on the goal).  If that holds, Filppula will be a solid streamer.

Steve Mason – 39 saves on 40 shots in the 2-1 SO win over the Panthers.  That’s two excellent starts in a row but I still have zero faith in Mason.  If you want to grab him in the hopes of another hot run like he had earlier in the year, be my guest.  Sometimes when you play with fire, you don’t get burned.

Braden Holtby – 15 save shutout in the 1-0 win over the Devils.  It’s not going to get any easier than that for Holtby.

Devan Dubnyk – 39 saves on 40 shots in the 1-0 loss to the Blue Jackets.  The battle of the most valuable goalies, especially based on draft position, went to Bob.  That said, Dubnyk was a beast and I’ve run out of superlatives to describe him.  #1 goalie should be enough.

Sergei Bobrovsky – 38 save shutout.  Remember how dreadful last season was for Bob and the Blue Jackets?  I’ll probably be lower on him than most next year only because the downside is bigger but the ceiling is as high as anybody’s.

Brandon Saad – Goal on five shots.  It’s crazy that Saad will still be 24 years old when next season starts.  I feel like there is still upside for more and this is even acknowledging he scored 31 goals last year.

P.K. Subban – Assist in his return to Montreal.  Just wanted to acknowledge the job well done by the Canadiens before the game.  The tribute was so well done that Subban was reduced to tears.

Brendan Gallagher – Goal on five shots.  I love his game but it hasn’t translated in production like last season.  Gally remains a streamer until the minutes increase.

Carey Price – 24 saves on 25 shots in the 2-1 win over the Predators.  Five quality starts in a row after a rough stretch.  Look for the Canadiens to ride him the rest of the way.

Mike Hoffman – Two assists with three shots and two penalty minutes.  Hoffman’s stat line is incredible this season.  Like Eichel and a few others, the missed time makes the totals look worse than they are.  19+24, +10, 41 PIM and 173 shots in 55 games?  Amazeballs.

Craig Anderson – 22 saves on 23 shots in the 2-1 win over the Avalanche.  Revenge game for Anderson went well which is no surprise because a) Anderson has been outstanding all season, b) the Avalanche suck, c) there is no c.

Nick Leddy – Goal and an assist with four shots.  Should be career highs in most categories for Leddy who remains yawnstipating but worth holding.

Ryan Strome – Goal and two assists with two shots.  Man, he’s had some monster games over the last six weeks but the other games are all blanks.  It’s nice to see the flashes again (we didn’t even get that last year) but he’ll be nothing more than a late flier next season.  It’s a bottom end stream for now.

Jamie Benn – Two goals on four shots.  Another two point game for my Three Point Challenge pick.  Damnit!

Radek Faksa – Goal on two shots with two PIM.  I’m interested to see how he does down the stretch to gauge how much I’ll like him for next season.  There’s plenty of potential here.  Also, you have to see his goal from last night.  It’s rare I see something I haven’t seen before in a hockey game but here we are:

Tyler Seguin – Two assists with five shots.  The plus-minus has hurt his value but everything else remains elite.

Jason Spezza – Goal and an assist.  When it comes to points, the Stars are down to three relevant forwards offensively.  Spezza is on the fringe but I’d lean towards holding.

Aaron Dell – 17 saves on 18 shots in the 3-1 win over the Canucks.  Dell’s numbers are outstanding and Pete DeBoer said he plans on playing Dell more down the stretch.  He’s worth streaming in all matchups.

Logan Couture – Goal and an assist.  He hasn’t had the big games but Couture remains on pace for around 27+28 with a strong plus-minus and special teams points.  Here’s to hoping he stays healthy the rest of the way.

Brian Boyle – Assist with two shots.  The important thing is he played 10:23 in an OT game.  As we talked about on the podcast, the trade really killed Boyle’s value.

Tanner Pearson – Goal on two shots.  With a goal in three straight and points in four, Pearson has to be held right now.

Friday’s Streamers:

Elias Lindholm (8.3%) – Going back to the well here.  Lindholm has been strong lately and plays at home against Arizona.  That’s enough for me.

Ryan Hartman (8.5%) – Nick Schmaltz is at 20.1% so based on my own rules, I can’t choose him.  If he’s available in your league, I’d use him instead, just make sure he’s playing because he missed practice Thursday with an illness.  Regardless, I also like the spot for Hartman who is starting to get more minutes on an o-zone heavy line.

Zach Sanford (0.0%) – This is a complete shot in the dark for deep leagues.  Sanford will make his Blues debut against the Jets, a prime matchup, on a scoring line and the second power play unit.  We’ve seen a few guys do well in their team debuts over the last couple days.  Why not Sanford?

That’s all for now guys.  I’ll be back on Monday recapping all of the weekend’s action.  Be sure to check out Thursday’s podcast looking at the trade deadline and other recent news around the league and please help support the podcast / website by taking advantage of the great deals from our sponsors.  As always, feel free to ask any questions or leave any comments below.  Thanks for reading, enjoy your weekend, take care!
