We’re here to bring you some excitement after a not-so-exciting Trade Deadline Day!  Well, if you include all of the trades the last few days, it was alright.  Anyways, we breakdown all of the trades that have a fantasy impact, notably Kevin Shattenkirk to the Capitals, Thomas Vanek to the Panthers and the Canucks getting two very nice prospects worth discussing for dynasty leagues.  After that, we run down the latest injuries around the league including the mumps going around in Minnesota now.  From there, we wrap things up with the Three Point Challenge.  Be sure to make your picks in the comments section below.  All of that and more on the latest edition of the Razzball Hockey Podcast brought to you by Harry’s Razors, Seatgeek and Draft!

Thursday’s Streamers:

Alexandre Burrows (1.4%) – We do a thorough breakdown of the trade during the podcast but the cliff notes version is he’s going against Colorado and should play in the top six.  Good enough for me.

Brian Gionta (2.3%) – Because the Sabres coach is a moron, Gionta is playing with Jack Eichel right now.  Given that Eichel is on a tear and that the Sabres play the Coyotes, it’s a good spot for him.

Zack Smith (14.4%) – Getting more exposure against Colorado can never be a bad thing.  Smith is playing well right now and is a nice combo of goals and PIM.

    Thanks for this Pod
I think i will definetly take the Shot on Burrows with the amazing Playoff Schedule ottawa has.

I will pick Benn for tonights 3 point the last time i first wanted to pick Granlund but i wanted to make it more exciting and pick another guy than you two had 😀 This time i wont do the same mistake and i will go with you viz.

PS: Granlund 10th in points is crazy. In the dynasty we started 1 season ago i got him in the tenth round as number 150. What a great pick and great development by him.

@Saints: No problem! I’m not sure it lasts but it’s definitely a great opportunity for him. Hopefully we both get three points! I know, this is the player people expected 4-5 years ago. Who knows why but thankfully it finally clicked,

My league trade deadline is today! I’m currently in first but there’s always room for improvement. I currently have Klingberg, Hedman, Werenski, Buff, and Klefbom. I generally don’t like carrying an extra D (roster 4) so I’d like to trade one of them. I know how you feel about Winnipegs playoff schedule (I also have Ehlers) but we are a hits league and buff is hard to replace. I’m actually leaning towards trading Klingberg because his lack of hits, shots, and plus minus isn’t great either. Thoughts? There’s a guy who is on the fringe that needs d man, he might be willing to part with Backes. Should I go for it? Oh I should say hits/pim is generally a weakness for me.

@Quick Sycamore: If you need hits and PIM, then Klingberg for Backes definitely makes sense. If those are a weakness, then yeah, you have to hold Big Buff despite the playoff schedule. The extra categories don’t really help Klingberg and he’s really just providing nice assists and not much else.

@Viz: So hold Kleffbom over Klingberg? I’ll give it a shot and see what he does. The other area I’m not confidant in is Goaltending. Allen, Lehner, Gibson, and I picked up Vasilevskiy again after Bishop was traded. Allen has been better but I still don’t quite trust him or Vasilevskiy. But lehner is the one I’m most worried about. Buffalo has had a few of bad games in a row and I’m not sure about lehner. Should I try and move him or someone else? Generally I only carry 3 goalies (play 2 at a time) and right now I have 4.

@Quick Sycamore: Well if you need to cut someone now, I think I would cut Klefbom, but I’d rather move Klingberg only because he should bring someone better back. I think your goaltending will be solid once Gibson gets back. I’m with you though, I generally only hold three, so if you want to move any of them, I’m good with it. I guess I would lean towards Lehner too.

Gotta go with the true king of the vikings Erik Karlsson for the 3 pt challenge!
