After his big breakout last season, Martin Necas has had a rough go of it this season.  Much like his team, he's started to turn his game around over the last month.  Since coming back from a two week injury on January 19th, when Necas had 9 goals on the season, he has seven goals in seven games, culminating with a natural hat trick in the first period against the Avalanche on Thursday.  On top of the goals, Necas has been taking a ton of shots.  He's averaging five shots on goal per game in the past seven, with 4+ in six of the last seven games.  If you're lucky enough to be in the 20% of leagues that Necas is available in, grab him immediately.  If you've held onto him, here's to hoping he keeps up this form to make up for the poor first half.  Let's take a look at what else happened over the last two nights:
The Coyotes are stuck in a continual rebuild, but acquiring Shayne Gostisbehere has been one of the bright spots.  Inexplicably, the Flyers gave a second round pick for Arizona to take Ghost Bear, only to give up a first and other assets to get Risto from the Sabres.  Woof.  Now, the Desert Dogs have rebuilt Gostisbehere's value.  He scored two goals and an assist with four shots in the 6-3 win over the Blue Jackets on Tuesday.  that gives him 4+4 in six games this season.  In five of those games, he has at least four shots on goal.  Yes, the plus-minus is bad, but those PPP are excellent.  Even if Chychrun returns and play games, I can't imagine Gostisbehere losing his PP1 spot.  Unless your league puts a big priority on plus-minus, he needs to be held everywhere.  Let's take a look at what else happened over the last two nights:
It wasn't that long ago that Vladimir Tarasenko requested a trade from the Blues. It wasn't that long ago that Tarasenko could have went to Seattle in the expansion draft.  Now, St. Louis has to be thanking their lucky stars that he's still on the roster.  Tarasenko had his biggest game of the season on Thursday, scoring a hat trick on four shots and adding two more assists in the 6-2 win over the Sabres.  Tarasenko now has 31+41 in 67 games, with a great chance of setting a career high in points.  It's a remarkable turnaround for the Russian who is certainly a top 100 player for drafts next season.  I don't see him cracking the top 50, but it's great to see Tarasenko playing great hockey again.  Let's take a look at what else happened over the last two nights:
It’s that time again. Friday/Sunday stream targets to finish out the week. Get those claims in today so you don’t miss out! Unless you’re in one of them fancy same-day adds leagues. Next week is All-Star week, so I'll be taking the week off. Note: For the sake of uniformity and convenience on my part, only players rostered in less than 50% of Yahoo leagues will be included. Also, a “***” denotes a priority stream, in my humble opinion.
Columbus was in an absolutely miserable spot on Tuesday.  They were missing their #1 goalie, their best defenseman, arguably their second best defenseman, and one of their hottest forwards.  Their backup goalie was playing his first game in three weeks, and they were facing the healthiest version of Tampa that we've seen in months.  Needless to say, it did not go well.  Tampa was in control from the very beginning and won 7-2, led by Ondrej Palat and Brayden Point.  Palat scored two goals and an assist with four shots, while Point had a goal and two assists with two shots.  These two haven't spent too much time together this season as Palat has been with Stamkos for the vast majority.  They didn't miss a step from playing together in the past.  Point is a fringe top 20 player while Palat is solidified himself as a hold again.  If he's available, grab him now, because I have no doubt that Palat will be a no brainer hold once Nikita Kucherov comes back, which should be in a couple weeks.  Let's take a look at what else happened over the last two nights:
Not everybody can step into the league and score 105 points like Crosby or 52 goals like Ovechkin did.  Even for #1 overall picks, it can take some time for them to learn the league and figure out how to play to their strengths.  If the last week is any indication, it looks like Jack Hughes has started to figure it out.  After a three point game earlier in the week, Hughes followed that up with another three point game; two goals and an assist with seven shots against the Oilers. On Sunday, Hughes kept the multi-point streak going with two assists against the Capitals.  That brings to 8+8 in 16 games.  You don't need a math major like me to tell you that's a 41+41 pace over 82 games.  The minutes are starting to reach first line minutes on a regular basis.  Missing a lot of time will keep his overall value down, but Hughes has a reasonable chance to be a top 50 player this season on a per-game basis, and he'll be ranked extremely high from yours truly in 2022-23.  Let's take a look at what else happened over what was hopefully a great New Years weekend for everyone!
To say Jacob Markstrom finished October on fire would be an understatement.  Markstrom had a 20 save shutout against the Flyers on Saturday, his third in the past four games.  The Flames are off to a great start with Markstrom at the forefront.  He's saved nine goals above expected over in the last four.  He's a clear workhorse which is why I had him a bottom end #1 goalie going into the season, but the upside is higher than that because of the volume.  Who knows, maybe he puts together a top five season because of how Sutter wants to play.  Let's take a look at what else happened over the weekend:

The first draft pick in the franchise history of the Golden Knights, Cody Glass is starting to come into his own.  On Friday, Glass scored a goal on four shots before falling it up with an assist and two shots on Sunday.  With Pietrangelo out for the time being, Glass has been on the point of the first power play unit and looked extremely comfortable.  He has a point in four of his five games and while I'm not looking to hold him, Glass is up to being a solid streamer.  Long term, there's tremendous upside but with how loaded Vegas is right now, Glass' ceiling is a bit capped.  Let's take a look at what else happened over the weekend:
It's my favorite day of the year!  It's the NHL Trade Deadline, and I'll be updating this post throughout the day with instant analysis on every single move.  I'm starting this post now with moves over the weekend and will start up again around noon EST and be here through the hour after the trade deadline.  Let's get to it!
A long time analytics darling, Joonas Donskoi is finally getting a chance on the first line in Colorado because of injuries, and he has taken full advantage.  Donskoi scored a goal and added two assists with two shots playing 20 minutes in the 4-0 win over the Jets on Tuesday.  That brings Donskoi up to 9+5 in 18 games, but with 6 points in the last 3 games.  With this workload, I would be holding Donskoi.  The Avs play every other day for the next week plus, and they're all on the road.  That could mean even more minutes for the first line in Colorado as Bednar attempts to match MacKinnon (and therefore Donskoi) against the top players of the opposition.  It's not going to last, but for the short term, Donskoi is a great option.  Let's take a look at what else happened over the last two nights:
