Tuesday marked the return of The Frozen Frenzy, where every team in the league plays in a stand alone time slot.  It’s a cool concept, but I can’t understand for the life of me why this doesn’t happen on a Saturday instead?  I digress.  The second game of the night was Florida against the Blue Jackets, and the Florida superstars destroyed Columbus 7-3.  They were led by the Tkachuk brothers, with Brady Tkachuk scoring a hat trick, his first goals as a Panther, while Matthew Tkachuk dished five assists.  Matthew was off to a very good start, while Brady started woefully.  I haven’t seen anything to think the switch to Florida is going to bring a drastic change to Brady’s fantasy value.  He does seem to be shooting the puck a bit less, mostly cutting up the hopeless, bad angle shots.  His spot on the top power play unit is locked in as long as Barkov is out, so for now, enjoy the production that you’re getting.  Let’s take a look at what else happened on Tuesday night:

Before we get to that, you know by now that I’m writing today instead of MarmosDad.  Since I’m going to Vegas for the Bills game on Sunday, he’s going to cover me for the weekend notes next Monday, so I’m writing today instead.  That means that next week, he will be writing on Monday and Wednesday, and then I’ll be back on Friday, more than likely with my first hold/stream list of the season.

Jesper Bratt – Goal and two assists with two shots.  It appears that last season’s slight disappointment is a thing of the past, and we’ll be back to Bratt finishing above a point per game.

Jack Hughes – Goal and two assists with eight shots.  Just stay healthy!

Anthony Mantha – Goal and an assist.  Mantha is off to a slow start, going pointless in five games before Tuesday night.  For now, he’s a bottom end to middling streamer.

Evan Rodrigues – Goal and an assist with four shots.  Bottom end streamer.

Alex DeBrincat – Two goals and an assist with six shots.  He was rewarded with a 7 year, 91 million contract after the game.  The team may be in chaos, but the Cat has started off very well.

Emmitt Finnie – Goal and an assist with four shots.  In a 5-4 loss, the second line for the Red Wings was on the ice for all four Red Wings goals and none against.  Bottom end streamer.

Michael Brandsegg-Nygard – Goal and an assist with four shots and six hits.  The former first round pick is off to a nice start, with five points in his last five games.  He looks like a solid streamer with upside from there.  He was so close to being the best three point challenge pick ever in terms of boldness.

Seth Jones – Four assists with three shots.  Jones is running the top power play unit and getting a huge even strength workload, so there’s a chance he’s a solid #2 in 12’ers.

Sam Reinhart – Two goals and an assist with seven shots.  After a rough start, Reinhart has four goals and an assist in the last two nights.  No reason to worry.

Carter Verhaeghe – Two goals on three shots.  Verhaeghe is on PP1 at the moment, putting him on the fringe.

Damon Severson – Two assists with four PIM.  Hot start for Severson, but I’m still extremely skeptical.

Olen Zellweger – Two goals on four shots and two PIM.  Rasmus Dahlin missed the game but is only day to day.  If you need very short term help, Zellweger should be good.  He could end up being good enough in 12’ers to be a bottom end hold, similar to what Byram did last season.

Mattias Samuelsson – Two assists.  Sammy has looked solid once again, but I see him worthy of anything deeper than a 12’er, but not quite a 12’er.

Beck Malenstyn – Two assists.  And there’s your annual Big Beck update!

Cole Caufield – Goal and an assist with five shots.  The shot rate is through the roof so far, which is great to see in an attempt to cut out the shooting percentage regression that’s coming.

Juraj Slafkovsky – Two assists with three shots and two PIM.  With Demidov out, they put Slafkovsky back on the top line.  Definitely a short term boost in value.

Lane Hutson – Goal and an assist with two shots.  The shots are over two per game right now, which is what it will take for Hutson to have a chance at pushing the top five defensemen (Makar, Q. Hughes, Dahlin, Werenski, Bouchard).

Ryan Leonard – Two assists with two shots and four PIM.  Leonard is off to a great start with six points in six games.  The problem is that the minutes are low because of the Washington depth.  He’s an elite streamer, but I can’t see holding.

Andrei Svechnikov – Two goals and an assist with five shots and two PIM.  Phenomonal start for Svech, picking up how he finished last season.

Sebastian Aho – Two assists with three shots.  Seven game, thirteen point scoring streak for Aho.  The top line is rolling at the moment, even without Jarvis.

Dylan Garand – 25 saves on 26 shots in the 4-1 win over the Lightning.  I wrote about him extensively on Monday, but the short version is that Garand is must own everywhere.

Alexis Lafreniere – Two goals on four shots.  That’s seven goals in the past four games for Lafreniere.  Is the corner finally being turned?  It sure looks it.  Must own everywhere while he’s en fuego.

Tye Kartye – Two assists with a shot and two PIM.  Kartye is actually playing with Miller and Laf right now, putting him in the middling streamer range.

Pavel Buchnevich – Three assists with a shot.  Buch is down on L3 and PP2, but he did play over 18 minutes in this one.  The shot rate is in the pits, so he’s only a middling streamer.

Pius Suter – Two goals and an assist with four shots.  Suter is on the fourth line now, so nothing to see here.

Mason McTavish – Two goals and an assist with six shots.  McTavish is off to a great start in St. Louis with 4+3 in six games.  The shot rate is through the roof as well.  I was kind of out after last season, but it looks like I was just a year early.  He’s on the fringe with a lean towards holding right now.

Connor McMichael – Two assists.  Elite streamer again, with McMichael having six points in six games so far.

Jake Neighbours – Two goals on three shots.  Solid streamer while he’s on PP1, even if Neighbours is down on the third line.

Kyle Palmieri – Two goals and two PIM.  First points of the season for Palmieri.  I’m keeping an eye on him for now.  It’s nice to see him back on the ice after his torn ACL last season.

Matias Maccelli – Goal and an assist with five shots.  Four game point streak for Maccelli, who is on the fourth line but also the top power play? He’s bouncing around at even strength, so I see him as a bottom end to middling streamer because of his poor shot rate.

Matthew Schaefer – Two assists with four shots.  Business as usual for Schaefer so far.

Sidney Crosby – Two goals.  Slow start to the season for Crosby, but I have zero concern.

Erik Karlsson – Two assists with a shot.  The shots are poor so far, but Karlsson has seven assists in seven games.  Assists ain’t got no face!

Teuvo Teravainen – Two goals and an assist with three shots.  The second line controlled this game for Chicago, with Tyler Bertuzzi scoring a goal and an assist, while Anton Frondell dished two assists.  All three are streamers to differing levels.  I would order them Bertuzzi, Frondell, Teravainen for now.

Roman Kantserov – Two goals on four shots.  Kantserov is playing with Bedard and Kane while getting top power play time.  Everyone is super excited about him, and with good reason.  I see him as an elite streamer for the time being.  Welcome to the Razzball Database!

Kirill Kaprizov – Two goals on three shots.  Kaprizov is your early league leader in goals with eight already.  No surprise for the superstar.

Mark Scheifele – Goal and two assists with three shots.  The top line did most of the damage, with Kyle Connor scoring a goal and an assist, while Cole Perfetti found the back of the net twice on four shots.  The real story here is Perfetti, who is a clear hold now.  Fantastic start to the season for the former first rounder.

Neal Pionk – Two assists with a shot.  I’d own Pionk in almost all formats until Morrissey returns.

Martin Necas – Two goals, both assisted by Nathan MacKinnon, who had his second fight of the season already!  Necas’ numbers are exactly in line with his huge breakout last season.

Tyler Seguin – Goal and an assist with seven shots.  This game was the best that Seguin has looked in quite some time.  He’s a middling to solid streamer for now, but hopefully this is a sign of things to come.

Miro Heiskanen – Two assists with a shot.  At this point, it’s pretty clear what Heiskanen is for fantasy purposes.

Rasmus Andersson – Two assists with two shots.  On the fringe of 12’ers, although I personally would look elsewhere.

Brett Howden – Goal and an assist with two shots and two PIM.  Bottom end streamer at best.

Ryan O’Reilly – Goal and an assist with two shots.  RoR is definitely on the fringe.  I have a slight lean towards one of the best streamers because of the shot rate, but I wouldn’t blame anyone for holding.

John Tavares – Goal and an assist with three shots.  Everything is going for Tavares as expected.

Auston Matthews – Goal and an assist with four shots.  This is the best that Matthews has looked in a couple years.  It’s mostly a matter of staying healthy at this point.

Mikhail Sergachev – Goal and an assist with two shots.  Fantastic start for Sergachev, who is looking like he’ll make a push towards being a top ten defenseman.

Dylan Guenther – Goal and an assist with two shots and six PIM.  I’m really like the way Guenther is playing, even if the minutes are down a bit from last season.  That’s a testament to the Utah depth and not anything that Guenther is doing wrong.

Aydar Suniev – Goal and an assist with two PIM.  I’m not going to lie, Suniev was nowhere near my radar going into the season.  The 21 year old former third rounder is getting second line and PP2 time, so  there’s some deep league value, but in 12’ers, I’m not interested in using any Flames.  Welcome to the Razzball database!

Devon Levi – 39 saves on 40 shots in the 4-1 win over the Kings.  After a disastrous opener against the Canucks, Levi has been fantastic.  For the time being, he’s must own everywhere.

Connor McDavid – Goal and three assists with two shots and two PIM.  The top guys won the game for Edmonton once again, as Leon Draisaitl, Evan Bouchard, and Vasily Podkolzin had two points each.  The story here is Podkolzin, who is a clear must own everywhere now.  He has seven goals in six games already.  This from a guy who set a career high last season with 19 goals!

Fraser Minten – Two goals on four shots with two PIM.  Great game from Minten, who is playing his way towards being an elite streamer.

Morgan Geekie – Two assists.  I watched this entire game and the only time I noticed Geekie was when his skate blade popped off.  Seven shots in seven games puts Geekie nowhere near a hold at the moment, even with six points in seven games.

Dmitry Orlov – Two assists.  He took some shifts with PP1 in this game, so that’s something to monitor going forward for both him and Cagnoni.

Macklin Celebrini – Goal and an assist with five shots.  Eight points in four games so far.  Pretty, pretty good.

Ivar Stenberg – Goal and an assist with two shots and two PIM.  Stenberg is on the top power play, which is where both of his points came from.  I don’t think there’s enough to hold him right now, similar to where Misa is, but he’s a solid streamer for that power play upside.  Welcome to the Razzball database!

Three Point Challenge:  With me writing today, we will bring back the Three Point Challenge for Thursday’s Games!  For anyone who doesn’t know, you pick a player to score three points in their game that night, but it can’t be somebody in the top ten in scoring.  For a while, we will go with last season’s top ten in points, so you can’t select McDavid, Kucherov, MacKinnon, Celebrini, Scheifele, Suzuki, Necas, Pastrnak, Draisaitl, or Robertson.  Fungazi 2.0, Surfer Dude, ashtray, and Ranah all have a correct pick already, with nobody getting a correct pick on Tuesday.  I’ll go with Hagel lighting up the Kraken with the Lightning coming off an embarrassing loss.

That’s all for now guys.  I’ll be back on Friday recapping the action from the next two nights.  As always, feel free to ask any questions, leave any comments, or give any suggestions below.  Thanks for reading, take care!
