First off, I just wanted to apologize to everyone for not having the usual Monday morning post this week, but after traveling this weekend, I wasn’t able to carve out the time to do a proper summary of things around the NHL.  The good news is I’m here now, and it’s time to heap some more praise on the #1 goalie in fantasy right now, Logan Thompson.  Thompson recorded his 100th win on Sunday, getting a 39 save shutout in the 2-0 win over Columbus.  Thompson is sitting with an outrageous 1.96/.925 on the season, proving last season wasn’t a fluke.  There’s just no way Hockey Canada keeps him off the Olympic team now, right?  No matter how much politicking kept him off the Four Nations team because McPhee was butthurt about Thompson being mad he had to backup for Hill, he’s clearly one of the three best Canadian goalies.  Do I think he’ll finish as the #1 overall goalie?  Probably not, but I’d be stunned if he’s not in the top 5.  He’s in elite form and the team in front of him is playing very well.  Let’s take a look at what else happened over the last couple of nights:

Daniil Tarasov – 20 saves on 21 shots in the 4-1 win over the Islanders.  His numbers are pretty good, but the volume is very low.  Tarasov is a decent streamer in all games as long as John Wick doesn’t find him.

Sam Reinhart – Goal and an assist with two shots.  Even with Florida’s struggles, Reinhart is still playing at a 44 goal pace.  He’s a true superstar who doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

Alex Nedeljkovic – 28 saves on 29 shots in the 4-1 win over Carolina.  Quite the revenge game.  Nedeljkovic is sitting right at both Mendoza lines with a 3.01/.899.  Use him at your own risk.

Macklin Celebrini – Goal and two assists with three shots and two PIM.  How real is the chance of him being the best player in the league at some point in his career?  I think it’s pretty likely.

Alex Wennberg – Goal and an assist.  And there’s your biannual Wennberg update!

John Klingberg – Goal and an assist with two shots.  Klingberg is firmly on the fringe.

Mark Stone – Two assists with a shot.  Just a matter of health.

Jack Eichel – Goal and an assist with two shots.  Eichel is playing close to a 35+70 pace with 320 SOG.  Seems good.

Brett Howden – Goal and an assist with two PIM.  No thank you.

Brayden Schenn – Two goals and an assist with three shots.  A big part of the St. Louis issues is Schenn falling off a cliff.  He’s a bottom end streamer now.

Dylan Holloway – Goal and two assists with four shots.  Solid streamer, especially in hits leagues, but Holloway has taken a big step back ths season.

Noah Dobson – Goal and an assist with four shots and two PIM.  Considering the lack of PP1 time, the overall stats for Dobson look pretty good.  Easy hold everywhere, even if the 70 point season from two seasons ago is an impossibility now.

Ville Husso – 19 saves on 20 shots in the 7-1 win over the Blackhawks.  This is crazy to say, but the score doesn’t even do it justice.  That’s how much Anaheim dominated.  I’ll be blunt: Husso is bad and I wouldn’t stream him.

Leo Carlsson – Two goals on four shots.  The jump is real.  He’s a superstar.

Chris Kreider – Two assists with three shots.  I lean towards holding, but Kreider is on the fringe.  His PP work is why I would want to keep him despite poor assists.

Ryan Strome – Two assists with five shots and two PIM. He’s done very little and Strome played under 12 minutes in this one.  Barring a significant change, his days of real fantasy value are over.

Cutter Gauthier – Two assists.  I’m sitting here stunned seeing zero shots on goal.  Either way, Gauthier is going to be a top 25 fantasy player for years with his shot rate.

Joel Armia – Two goals on four shots.  Fine depth player, and there’s okay deep league value because he’s just okay at every category.  I wouldn’t stream him in 12’ers though.

Kevin Fiala – Two assists with a shot.  The assists continue to go in the wrong direction, but the goals are still nice.  With over three shots per game, I’m still holding, but Fiala is really close to the fringe now.

Clayton Keller – Goal and an assist with three shots.  I’m still buying a Keller surge at some point.

Filip Gustavsson – 23 saves on 24 shots in the 4-1 win over the Kraken.  It is incredible how it went from not wanting either Wild goalie, to both being incredible lately.  I do think Wallstedt is the 1A now, but I would hold both.

Joel Eriksson Ek – Goal and two assists with six shots.  JEEK is playing the hardest minutes in the league this season while factoring in the QoC, but he’s still doing enough to be on the fringe.  I have him in a 10’er and I’m still stubbornly holding because of the shot rate and positive shooting regression coming, so that should tell you how I feel about him going forward.

John Gibson – 39 save shutout in the 4-0 win over the Canucks.  Gibson has been awful this season, sitting at a .358/.869 before today.  I’m completely out.

Axel Sandin-Pellikka – Two assists.  There’s definitely a player here long term, but right now, he’s simply not good.  Welcome to the Razzball Database!

Dennis Hildeby – 29 save shutout in the 2-0 win over Tampa.  I said when Woll went down that Hildeby is the guy if you need short term help in net.  This game only solidified that opinion.

Jason Zucker – Two assists with two shots and two PIM.  Zucker is in elite streamer range as he’s played very well this season.

Josh Norris – Two assists with two shots.  Just stay healthy!

Rasmus Dahlin – Goal and an assist with two shots.  The numbers aren’t quite there yet, especially in the goals department, but the Sabres are dominating in his minutes.  If you can buy low, I absolutely would.

Nazem Kadri – Goal and two assists with two shots.  Would also love to buy low on Kadri.  Everything is there but the goals, but with his shot volume, it’s coming.

Yegor Sharangovich – Two goals and an assist.  It was only two seasons ago that Sharangovich scored 31 goals.  Now, he’d be lucky to top last season’s 17.  Bottom end streamer.

Yan Kuznetsov – Goal and an assist.  Hasn’t scored much in the AHL the last two seasons, so it’s hard to imagine anything here.  Welcome to the Razzball Database!

Matt Coronato – Two assists with two PIM and two shots.  Middling streamer.

Three Point Challenge:  We will do Tuesday’s games per usual, and then like last week, we will pick Thursday’s games on MarmosDad’s post.  He’s the only one with a correct pick so far.  You can’t select MacKinnon, Celebrini, McDavid, Bedard, Rantanen, Necas, Carlsson, Robertson, Draisaitl, Eichel, or Scheifele.  I’ll go with Jarvis against the Blue Jackets.

That’s all for now guys.  I’ll be back on Friday with either more daily notes, or something different as a change of pace.  As always, feel free to ask any questions, leave any comments, or give any suggestions below.  Thanks for reading, take care!

Shoot! I missed the 7:00 games for tonight. Still 0-0 in the Bruins game, but I can’t go Geeks again.

I’ll take The Nuge out in Edmonton against Buffalo for three points tonight (Tuesday).
