Vincent Trocheck was off to an awful start this season with only four points in his first ten games with no positive signs.  Well, Chytil went down injured, and that set Trocheck off on a resurgence.  Trocheck had a goal and two assists with two shots in the 4-1 win over the Wild.  That give Trocheck six points in his last three games, but more importantly, the playing time has skyrocketed.  He played only 16:46 on Thursday because the game was in hand, but before that, Trocheck had topped 20 minutes in four of the last five games.  Now, it hasn’t been perfect.  The shot rate is down quite a bit, and it hasn’t changed that much with more playing time.  I lean towards holding him again in all formats, but if you include SOG, Trocheck is on the very bottom end of holds towards the fringe.  Let’s take a look at what else happened over the last two nights:

Anywho, if you’re new to this column or have no idea what the Friday/Sunday split is, it’s a simple yet effective way to maximize your weekly output no matter the format of your league. Typically — and it’s not always the case, especially earlier in the season — heavy game loads are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, whereas Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays are lighter. Streaming players on those lighter days is almost a necessity to ensure you’re getting the most of each week, but this column focuses on just Fridays and Sundays. Reason being is that you get more bang for your waiver add buck in picking up a guy who will play those two days and will almost always be able to slot into your starting lineup without having to sacrifice someone else to the bench.

So whether it be a points league or categories league, bangs or no bangs, you can often find value on the wire to stream at the end of any given week. This is less true in deeper leagues, of course, but there’s always gonna be somebody worth snagging in the vast majority of league types. Are you light on hits? Blocks? PIM? PPP? I’ll be looking at every team who plays both Friday and Sunday each week and will try to highlight the most useful dudes who are likely to be available on your waiver wire. Also, please note that this column will not feature goalies. The purpose of the Friday/Sunday split is to maximize skater output.

Carolina’s offense has been a bit disappointing overall, with only Aho sitting around a point per game.  The injury to Patches really put a hole in their lineup that I assume they’re going to address before the trade deadline.  On the bright side, their most recent high draft pick just had the game of his early career.  Seth Jarvis scored a hat trick in the 6-2 win over Montreal on Thursday.  Overall, Jarvis has taken a step back offensively this season which is disappointing.  His points are down despite playing 2 minutes more per game on average.  It’s dropped him down to being a middling streamer, but it hasn’t really changed my long term opinion of him.  He has great speed, solid hands, and an elite compete level.  Jarvis just turned 21 years old so the best is yet to come.  If you owned him in a dynasty, I wouldn’t panic.  He’s going to be a top six winger for a long time.  Let’s take a look at what else happened over the last two nights:

It was great to see Aleksander Barkov back in the lineup on Thursday, and if you didn’t get him back into your lineup off injured reserve, well, that one is going to hurt for a while.  Barkov scored a hat trick in the first period against the Canadiens and added two assists in the 7-2 win over the Canadiens.  It hasn’t been Barkov’s best season to this point, but I’m buying Barkov going forward to get back to being well over a point per game.  Florida has dug itself quite a hole in the playoff race and I expect Maurice to really ride their top six even more.  Barkov’s shooting percentage is also much lower than his career sh% (10.3 vs 14.0) so look for some positive regression in the New Year for the Panthers captain.  Let’s take a look at what else happened over the last two nights:

I hope everyone had a great Holiday Season!  Hopefully you weren’t stuck in your house like I was in Buffalo with this blizzard.  Still haven’t left my house since Thursday.  Anyways, it’s time for an updated hold/stream list since it’s been about six weeks.  For a refresher course of what I’m doing this year, instead of two separate categories, I’m going to do three now: hold, on the fringe between bottom end hold and elite streamer, and any level of streamer.  This is for 12 team leagues.  I will only make comments on certain players that I deem noteworthy, otherwise this will be purely a list.  Assume that every starting goalie is worth holding unless noted otherwise, mostly by them being in the streaming category.  Let’s get to it!

With a strange schedule this week due to Thanksgiving in the United States, I’m going to be back on Tuesday recapping tonight’s action.  I know it’s been a bit for daily notes, but managing through this snowstorm in Buffalo has taken up a lot of time.  As a result, I’m going to change things up and talk about one player on each team that is changing my opinion about them for fantasy, for better or worse.  Let me know in the comments section if you like this type of post (or if you don’t, speak the truth) so I know going forward.  Let’s get to it!

Things couldn’t be going worse for John Klingberg with the Ducks. The team signed him in order to help out in the early part of the season and probably trade him at the deadline for assets.  Instead, he hasn’t helped at all, and is even off the first power play unit now.  The shot rate is dreadful, as is the plus-minus.  You can still hold for upside later in the year, but he’s no longer must-own in 12’ers and even 10’ers.

Mikhail Sergachev had the game of the weekend, scoring two goals and two assists on three shots in the 6-3 win over the Capitals.  However, I was starting this post with Sergachev after watching the first ten minutes of the game.  Sergachev moved to the first power play unit and immediately delivered, with one goal and one primary assist coming there.  That is a massive boon to his value.  Whether it lasts, who is to say?  I would bet against it staying that way for the whole season, which is why I wouldn’t panic if I owned Victor Hedman.  However, in the short term, this is enough to make Sergachev a #2 defenseman in a 12 man league, with upside to be a #1.  Getting to feed Stamkos and Kucherov for shots over and over again is a godsend to fantasy value.  Let’s take a look at what else happened over the weekend:

It wasn’t the best start to the season for the defending Stanley Cup Champions, who were 4-4-1 in October.  Time off before playing the Blue Jackets twice in Finland was just what they needed to get back on track.  Colorado won 6-3 on Friday before winning 5-1 on Saturday.  The stars led the way in both games.  Nathan MacKinnon dished seven assists between the two games, Mikko Rantanen had a hat trick on Friday, totaling 3+2, while Cale Makar had a goal and four assists.  Columbus is a complete disaster defensively, but it’s great to see Colorado’s stars continue to dominate.  Sadly, their weekend ended on a somber note with the passing of Peter McNab.  He was one of the best TV analysts in the league and he will be sorely missed.  Thankfully, he survived his illness long enough to get to see the Avalanche win the Cup again.  Let’s take a look at what else happened over the weekend:

Is it Saturday again already? You bet it is! Happy weekend once again from MarmosDad. I’m back for another write-up of numbers and names to help you place in those DFS tourneys and double ups! For today’s lede, we’re headed to St. Louis for a strong backstop play in G Jordan Binnington (DK: $8500). Binnington came out of the gate hot with 3 straight wins.

The Coyotes are stuck in a continual rebuild, but acquiring Shayne Gostisbehere has been one of the bright spots.  Inexplicably, the Flyers gave a second round pick for Arizona to take Ghost Bear, only to give up a first and other assets to get Risto from the Sabres.  Woof.  Now, the Desert Dogs have rebuilt Gostisbehere’s value.  He scored two goals and an assist with four shots in the 6-3 win over the Blue Jackets on Tuesday.  that gives him 4+4 in six games this season.  In five of those games, he has at least four shots on goal.  Yes, the plus-minus is bad, but those PPP are excellent.  Even if Chychrun returns and play games, I can’t imagine Gostisbehere losing his PP1 spot.  Unless your league puts a big priority on plus-minus, he needs to be held everywhere.  Let’s take a look at what else happened over the last two nights:

With Tyler Bertuzzi injured and Jakub Vrana in the league’s assistance program (best wishes to him), the Red Wings needed somebody to step up on left winger.  Dominik Kubalik, come on down!  Kubalik wasn’t given a qualifying offer by the Blackhawks after last season, leaving him to sign in Detroit as a free agent.  The first two weeks couldn’t have gone better, especially the last weekend.  Kubalik had a goal and an assist with 4 shots against the Blackhawks on Friday, before having a goal and two assists with six shots against the Ducks on Sunday.  With eight points in his last four games, Kubalik is in must-own territory right now.  There’s no guarantee it lasts, but he’s shown he can thrive next to Larkin and Kubalik has been a 30 goal scorer before, so we know he has the upside.  Let’s take a look at what else happened over the weekend:

Vancouver has managed to blow multi-goal leads in each of their first four games.  Pretty remarkable stuff that already has Boudreau on the hot seat.  The good news is that there’s still been some offensive bright spots for the Canucks, and Elias Pettersson is leading the way.  Pettersson had five points over the last two nights, totaling two goals, three assists, and six shots in the two games.  That brings Pettersson to 3+3 in four games, along with 3.5 shots per game.  That’s a good start to one of my bold predictions of the season, which is that Pettersson will score 45+ goals this year.  Time will tell if that pans out, but I have no doubt that Pettersson can be a top 25 player despite the low penalty minutes.  Let’s take a look at what else happened over the last two nights:
