Jake DeBrusk was the second of three consecutive first round picks by the Bruins in the 2015 draft.  The other two players are still in the AHL developing but DeBrusk is starting to make his mark with the big squad.  In the 7-2 beatdown of the Blue Jackets, DeBrusk scored a goal and two assists with four shots and two penalty minutes.  He followed that up by scoring the only non-empty net goal against the Sabres on Tuesday.  As you can see below, snipe city:

That brings DeBrusk up to 8 goals and 10 assists in 28 games with solid penalty minutes and a decent shot rate.  The crazy thing is that he’s producing despite getting poor minutes (he’s averaging 14 per game on the season).  DeBrusk has shown me plenty this season to improve his stock in dynasties.  He looks like a lock to be a top six player going forward while having plenty of upside from there.  In redrafts, I wouldn’t hold him right now, solely because of the lack of minutes.  That said, DeBrusk is still a great streamer while he’s producing.  Let’s take a look at what else happened over the last two nights in the NHL:

Hey everyone! We are only two days away from the season starting and the preseason is in the books. Today, I’m going to take a quick look at all 30 teams in regards to lines, injuries and surprise players who may make the team. Players officially have to go down by Tuesday so there will be a little guess work on my part for the last couple guys to make the roster but at least for standard leagues, nearly everything is clear at this point. Let’s get right to it!

The Montreal Canadiens were poised to build on a terrific 2014-15 last year only for their season to end in November. They didn’t know it at the time but the reigning Hart and Vezina winner Carey Price had his season end after only 12 games started. Most people expect the Canadiens to bounce back this year but after one of the worst trades in recent memory, it’s all going to be on Price’s shoulders. In my opinion, it’ll take another all-world season just for Montreal to contend for the playoffs. Despite a flawed roster, they still have some interesting fantasy pieces so let’s take a look!

When you look at Zach Parise’s totals for the season, they look like close to what you’d expect from him at the halfway point of the season; 14 goals and 11 assists. However, he missed 9 games so far this year so he’s actually playing at a 40 goals, 30 assist pace after his second hat trick of the season Tuesday against the Blue Jackets. Parise is taking over 3.5 shots per game, has 4 GWG for those who play with that category and has been a great value where he was selected on a per game basis. Here’s to hoping he stays healthy down the stretch because he’s playing outstanding for the Wild. Here’s what else I saw on Tuesday night:

While I’ve talked about the Flames being a major disappointment in this space multiple times this year, Johnny Gaudreau certainly doesn’t belong in that category. The young gun is keeping a point per game this season and he had his best game to date on Friday, scoring a hat trick, adding an assist with five shots and two PIM in the 5-4 OT win against the Bruins. The shots are a little lower than you’d like for Gaudreau to reach true superstar status but he’s probably pushing the top 25 overall at this point. Not bad for a fifth round pick who most thought was too small to make it in the league. Here’s what else I saw on a busy weekend:
