It’s not that often that you see a team score 10 goals in a game.  In fact, it didn’t happen all of last season.  It did on Saturday, with the Bruins smashing the Rangers 10-2 in the afternoon.  It’s no surprise that the two highest game scores of the season were Bruins in this game.  It’s definitely not a surprise that one was David Pastrnak, who dished a whopping six assists in the game, adding five shots on goal.  The huge surprise was Marat Khusnutdinov, who scored four goals and an assist, finishing +6.  While he didn’t record any stats in Boston’s game on Sunday, Khusnutdinov did have three assists in his previous four games.  He’s currently on the first line with Pasta, so he’s worth bumping into the middling streamer range.  There’s some upside here, but he only had seven shots in his previous eight games combined, so that will need to drastically change for anything more.  Let’s take a look at what else happened over the weekend:

Friday’s Games:

Eric Comrie – 23 saves on 24 shots in the 5-1 win over the Kings.  That’s an emphatic way to snap the eleven game losing streak.  I still don’t want anything to do with Comrie.

Mark Scheifele – Two goals on three shots, both assisted by Gabe Vilardi.  They have both been excellent despite the collapse of the Jets.

Cole Perfetti – Two assists.  I was expecting a lot from Perfetti after putting up 50 points last season, but instead he’s played poorly and also dealt with injuries.  Bottom end streamer.

Logan Thompson – 23 saves on 24 shots in the 5-1 win over the Blackhawks.  It sure looks like it’s going to be his crease in the Olympics.  I don’t see how they can possibly start Binnington out of the gate.

John Carlson – Two assists.  Quite the bounce back from Carlson, who is a top end #2 in 12’ers this season.

Martin Fehervary – Two assists with a shot and two PIM.  Solid deep league option for hitting all of the categories reasonably well besides PPP.

Connor McMichael – Goal and an assist with three shots.  Similar to Perfetti, although McMichael was better last season.  Middling to solid streamer.

Ryan Leonard – Two assists.  Leonard is flashing some star potential.  He’s a solid streamer for now getting closer to elite, but I’m very bullish long term.

Nick Schmaltz – Two goals and an assist with five shots playing over 23 minutes.  Schmaltz is firmly back on track and a clear hold everywhere.

Clayton Keller – Three assistswith four shots.  The goals are trending the wrong way, but Keller is close to a 60 assist pace like last season.

Lawson Crouse – Goal and an assist with two PIM.  Crouse is on the first line with the previous two guys, making him a solid streamer, especially for hits.  He does have seven points in his last seven games.

Saturday’s Games

Mika Zibanejad – Goal and an assist with two shots and two PIM.  Despite the Rangers being a disaster, Zibanejad has been on fire, totaling 11 points in his last five games.  Clear hold.

Pavel Zacha – Hat trick.  It’s hilarious that a hat trick was the third best game from a Bruin on Saturday.  The points are solid for ZAcha, but the shots are brutal.  Middling to solid streamer.

Fraser Minten – Two goals and an assist with four shots.  Minten is flashing a bit, but he’s only a bottom end streamer for now.

Charlie McAvoy – Goal and an assist.  McAvoy is actually having the best assist rate of his career.  Here’s to hoping he can maintain this form.

Devin Cooley – 27 saves on 28 shots in the 2-1 win over the Penguins.  Cooley has been shockingly good for the Flames, sitting with a 2.29/.918 in 11 starts.  He’s been a minor league goalie for a long time, so I don’t really buy it, but who knows with goalies.

Mikko Rantanen – Goal and an assist with three shots, as did Jason Robertson.  Rantanen is actually playing at a higher point pace this season than he did for Colorado before the trade last season.  Ideally, the shot rate takes a jump back up.

Tyler Toffoli – Two goals and an assist with five shots.  Good run for Toffoli, which puts him back into elite streamer territory.

Macklin Celebrini – Three assists with four shots.  Celebrini played almost 28 minutes in this game.  Safe to say that he’s gettting all he can handle and he’s delivering and then some.

Adam Gaudette – Goal and an assist with four shots.  For his flaws, Gaudette hass always been a decent microwave scorer.  He’s a decent deep league option, sitting with 10 goals in 36 games.

Trent Miner – 29 save shutout in the 4-0 win over the Blue Jackets.  It was a spot start for Miner, who should be back in the AHL with Blackwood’s return imminent.  If Miner does come back, he’s worth streaming just because of the high likelihood of a win.

Brent Burns – Two goals on four shots.  The legend is still crushing it at 40 years old.  Burns is definitely doing enough to be a bottom end hold everywhere.

Victor Olofsson – Goal and an assist with two shots and two PIM.  Olofsson has fallen off a cliff, dropping him down to bottom end streamer.

Parker Kelly – Two assists with a shot.  Nice fourth liner, as is Gavin Brindley (2A) right now, but there’s no fantasy value.

Joseph Woll – 29 save shutout in the 5-0 win over the Canucks.  The Canucks are a mess, but the Leafs are on fire right now.  It’s just a matter of health for Woll at the moment.

William Nylander – Goal and two assists.  Ho-hum return from Nylander, a mere three points.  Fantastic season.

Nikita Kucherov – Two goals and two assists.  Brayden Point dished three assists.  Just an absurd run from Kucherov.  Nine game point streak in which he has 23 points, including eight straight multi-point games.

Anthony Cirelli – Two assists.  Cirelli is back as an elite streamer.

Charle-Edouard D’Astous – Two assists with a shot.  I’ll be honest, I didn’t know anything about the 28 year old rookie going into the season, but he’s looked like a competent NHL’er.  He’s carved out some decent deep league value.

Gage Goncalves – Two goals with two PIM.  Since Christmas, Goncalves has seven points in seven games.  He’s actually playing with Kucherov and Point right now.  Although he doesn’t get nearly the workload they do, they’re both scorching hot, making Goncalves a solid streamer just by playing with them.

Carter Verhaeghe – Goal and an assist with two shots and four PIM.  Verhaeghe is slightly improved from last season, but nowhere where he was for the four years before that.  Now, he’s an elite streamer, maybe on the fringe.

Aaron Ekblad – Two assists with two shots.  I don’t think it’s good enough for 12’ers in general, although it’s close in the short term with Jones out.

Gustav Forsling – Goal and an assist.  Forsling’s offense continues to trend the wrong way.  Deep league only.

Claude Giroux – Two assists with a shot.  Elite streamer at this point in his career.

John Gibson – 27 save shutout in the 4-0 win over the Canadiens.  A decent stretch from Gibson has him above the .900 sv% line.  He’s definitely a hold everywhere with 16 wins in 27 starts.

Alex DeBrincat – Goal and two assists with three shots.  DeBrincat has been fantastic, playing at a 41+41 pace with over three shots per game.  None of it looks fluky either.

Andrew Copp – Goal and an assist.  He’s playing with Kane and DeBrincat, but it’s hard to get Copp past middling streamer, and even that’s a bit generous.

Dylan Larkin – Goal and an assist with three shots.  The assists are down, but Larkin should easily set a new career high in goals.

Jordan Staal – Two assists with a shot.  His bump in goals is solely a result of a high shooting percentage.  Easy pass outside of a stream for faceoff wins.

Leo Carlsson – Goal and an assist with five shots.  Like his team, Carlsson has been ice cold, but he’s done enough to give him some time and hold without hesitation.

Tage Thompson – Goal and an assist with three shots.  Business as usual for Tage this season.  The way he’s playing lately, I wouldn’t be surprised by a big surge leading into the Olympics.

Peyton Krebs – Two assists with a shot.  He’s getting first line time for reasons unknown, but Krebs’ dirty work doesn’t translate into fantasy success.  Super deep league option only.

Jack Quinn – Two goals on four shtos, both assisted by Zach Benson.  Quinn is a tough case, as he has these games where he flashes every shift, but then he’ll go a month only scoring one goal with reasonable ice time.  I can’t help but think he’s the guy who is moved if Jarmo takes a swing.  For now, he’s a middling streamer, with Benson in the same tier, but a preference to Benson.

Simon Holmstrom – Two goals and an assist.  Hot streak for Holmstrom, who has six goals and four assists in his last ten games.  That’s only enough to get him into middling streamer range.

Tony DeAngelo – Two assists with five shots and two PIM.  I had relatively high hopes for TDA this season, but Schaefer blowing up killed most of his opportunity.  He’s fine for anything deeper than 12’ers, but in 12’ers, I’m looking elsewhere.

Quinn Hughes – Three assists with eight shots, playing over 30 minutes.  Hughes has twelve assists in his last eight games.  Assists ain’t got no face!

Drew Commesso – 36 save shutout in the 3-0 win over Nashville.  Commesso went back down to the AHL after this game.  Long term, he should be an NHL goalie, but he has Knight blocking him.  He’s not close to having a fantasy impact.  Welcome to the Razzball Database!

Tyler Bertuzzi – Goal and an assist with three shots.  Bertuzzi is playing close to a 45 goal pace.  Even if it’s unsustainable, he’s worth holding for the time being, especially with Connor Bedard (2A,  3 SOG) back in the mix.

Robert Thomas – Goal and an assist with two shots.  Very frustrating year for the Blues and Thomas.  He’s on the fringe for the upside, but it’s borderline at the moment.

Mitch Marner – Goal and an assist with three shots.  The goals are brutal for a player of his talent, but Marner is on pace for 70 assists.  I expected a lot more, but it looks like it isn’t happening.

Brandt Clarke – Two assists with three shots and two PIM.  It would be amazing if the Kings would let Clarke loose, but they have to keep giving their horrible veterans big minutes.  I’m still holding Clarke in 12’ers, but it is an extremely frustrating experience.

Leon Draisaitl – Two goals on six shots.  Draisaitl’s assists are up quite a bit from last season, putting him as a top five forward despite barely being talked about.

Evan Bouchard – Two assists.  The shot rate is down to around 2.5 per game, a solid rate for a defenseman, but a far cry from his usual rate around three per game.  Even with that, Bouchard is a clear #1.

Sunday’s Games:

Cody Glass – Two goals.  Glass is setting a career high pace in goals, but he has two assists in 34 games.  Easy pass.

Jack Hughes – Two assists with four shots playing 27 minutes.  He hasn’t scored in nine games as the Devils continue to collapse.  Hughes is sitting at a point per game, but he’s well behind where he’s been the last three seasons.

Luke Hughes – Two assists with two shots.  Probably a bottom end hold because Keefe seems hellbent on playing Hughes big minutes.  He’s simply not that good at this point in his career.

Josh Morrissey – Two assists with a shot and two PIM.  The shot rate continues to trend in a negative direction.  The points are still great, but that puts him more as an elite #2 than a clear #1.

Joonas Korpisalo – 27 save shutout in the 1-0 win over Stuart Skinner (17/18) and the Penguins.  It’s three good games in a row for Korpisalo, so while I’m not rushing to stream him, he’s worth monitoring again.

Kirill Marchenko – Two assists with four shots.  Marchenko is pretty close to last season’s breakout numbers.  He’s a borderline top 50 player.

Alex Ovechkin – Goal and an assist with two shots and two PIM.  Four game goal streak for Ovechkin, as he reaches 20 goals for the 21st time.  Only Gordie Howe has more with 22.

Roman Josi – Goal and two assists with two shots and two PIM.  Josi hasn’t been at his best, but the Preds are turning their season around.  Hopefully Josi gets on a run.

Steven Stamkos – Goal and an assist with two shots.  Stammer is pacing for 35 goals which would be a nice bounce back.  He’s an elite streamer now.

Tomas Hertl – Two goals and three assists with four shots.  The Sharks have had a great season, but they have absolutely no answer for Vegas.  Hertl has been a bottom end hold, and a big revenge game only solidifies that.

Mark Stone – Three assists with two shots.  Just stay healthy!

Pavel Dorofeyev – Goal and two assists with three shots and two PIM.  The Vegas PP is rolling with five forwards again as they’re all healthy for the time being.  That’s a huge bump to Dorofeyev, who is on the fringe with a lean towards holding.

Jack Eichel – Two goals on seven shots with two PIM.  Eichel is pacing ahead of last season, and while I don’t expect him to reach 100 points, he still has a real chance to do it.

Noah Hanifin – Two assists with two shots and two PIM.  Theodore is back, meaning Hanifin is back on the fringe, and I have a lean towards leaving him on the waiver wire.

Three Point Challenge:  We will do Tuesday’s games per usual.  You can not select McDavid, MacKinnon, Celebrini, Kucherov, Draisaitl, Rantanen, Pastrnak, Necas, Robertson, Scheifele, Connor, or Kaprizov.  I’ll go with Johnston against the Ducks.

That’s all for now guys.  MarmosDad will be back on Wednesday, while I’ll be back on Friday.  If you have any suggestions for a post, please let me know in the comments section below, along with any other questions or comments.  Otherwise, I’ll recap what happens on Wednesday and Thursday.  Thanks for reading, take care!

What a full schedule to recap. Holy smokes.

That Bruins explosion was crazy. I said to a buddy, I would’ve lost a lot of money betting that Pastrnak didn’t score any of the 10 goals. The 6 apples were nice, though.

I’ll go with Willy Nylander for three against Utah just to shed a bit of the perceived Leaf hate over here. Ha.

Relieved to see Leo Carlsson get some points. Crazy that he’s still a PPG player right now even after that long slide. Schmaltz was the only guy on my roster Friday and he crushed it. 16 FOW from a winger too if your league counts them like mine does.
