Not many teams have played on both Wednesday and Thursday this week but again, the Desert Dogs have garnered my attention. In an impressive performance against on Wednesday against the Ducks and the Wild on Thursday, Anthony Duclair buried a hat trick on Wednesday and scored another on Thursday. He’s an excellent prospect who was the main piece the Rangers sent to Arizona in the Keith Yandle trade so he’s well respected around the league. You obviously can’t expect four goals in two games and the Coyotes are due to regress but in all dynasty leagues, I’d own Duclair and in 12 man leagues or deeper, I think he’s must own.
Here’s what else I’ve seen the last two nights:
Bobby Ryan – Goal, two assists, +1 and two shots. I still have him lower than everyone else because I don’t believe but I still would own him in almost all leagues. I just don’t see more than 60 points.
Mika Zibanejad – Goal and two assists with 3 shots. No different than Ryan except that in normal drafts, you could have got him 5+ rounds later than Ryan. Super talented but in fantasy, his value isn’t great because he’s not a shot-first player.
Erik Karlsson = 4 assists, +4 and 4 shots. He’s good at the hockey game.
Sergei Bobrovsky – 20 saves on 26 shots. Horrible again but I’m still holding. He’s amazing and their defense shouldn’t be this bad.
Michal Neuvirth – Another shutout! I wouldn’t rush to add him but he’s a quality stream in the short term.
Zdeno Chara – Two assists with two shots and 2 PIM. Still don’t like him this year compared to most but as long as he plays big minutes, he’s relevant.
Jimmy Hayes – Goal and three assists with 5 shots. Only played 14 minutes so I’m not rushing to add him but he’s on my watch list.
Semyon Varlamov – 14 saves on 19 shots. Another guy I’m holding on to because he has too much talent. As long as his defense tightens up, he’s be a G1 or G2 for fantasy purposes.
Max Domi – Two goals and two assists in two games on Wednesday and Thursday. Another must add at this point in all leagues.
Mike Smith – 37 save shutout on Wednesday, then 4 goals against on 17 shots on Thursday. I don’t think he is either of these goalies but I think he is closer to the latter. The Coyotes should be pretty bad and mainly because Smith will regress. Sell high if you can.
Filip Forsberg – Goal, assist, 3 SOG and 2 PIM. Still top 50 overall for me.
James Neal -Goal, assist and 5 shots. Incredibly underrated in most fantasy circles, Neal posts big shot totals while contributing across the board.
John Tavares – Goal, assist, 2 SOG and 2 PIM. Still good at hockey. JOHNNY WHO!?
Thomas Greiss – 44 saves on 47 shots. Jaroslav Halak will be back very soon so I’m not adding Greiss except in the deepest leagues but keep him on the watch list.
Marc-Andre Fleury – 22 save shutout. Still like him for the wins, hate him for the rest of the goalie categories.
Evgeni Malkin – goal on three shots. He’s pretty good at the hockey, expect him to take over games vern soon.
David Perron – Seven shots. The goals and points are coming.
Braden Holtby – 26 saves on 27 shots. Still should be a top 5 goalie come end of season.
John Carlson – Goal and assist on 3 shots. Of all of my preseason predictions, Carlson being a top 10+ defenseman is probably what I feel most confident in,
Evgeny Kuznetsov – Two assists and 2 shots. The breakout is coming, believe it!
T.J Oshie – Goal and assist. Again, the breakout is coming! Believe it!
Alex Ovechkin – Goal and 6 shots with 2 PIM. He’s pretty f’ing good!
Carey Price – 25 save shutout. Gun to head, he’s the #1 goalie rest of season.
Tomas Fleischmann – goal and assist with 2 shots. With his injury history, only ownable in the deepest of leagues.
Rick Nash – Four shots and 4 PIM. The goals, they are coming. Buy low if you can.
Steven Stamkos – Two goals and an assist in the blowout lo ss to Dallas. Really good at the hockey.
Jonathan Drouin – Two assists with two shots. Whatever you can do to acquire him if you don’t own him in dynasty leagues, it’s probably worth it.
Jamie Benn – Goal and assist with 2 shots. Long overdue.
Tyler Seguin – Same line as Benn. LONG OVERDUE!
Jason Spezza – Same line as Benn and Seguin. Not overdue because he just had a hat trick but still really good at the hockey!
Jaromir Jagr – Two goals and an assist on 3 shots. What a boss.
Aleksander Barkov – Goal plus assist on 6 shots. I said it before the season, I’ll say it again. ADD HIM NOW! He’s really good at hockey; 60+ points is completely reasonable.
Troy Brouwer – Two assists and 1 shot. Must own now in 10+ man leagues playing second line and second power play in St. Louis.
Jori Lehtera – Goal and assist with two shots. Really sucks he is on the third line so the upswings will be nice but still wouldn’t add him in 12 man leagues.
Paul Stastny – Goal and assist with 3 shots in 20 minutes. The first line in St. Louis with Alex Steen (goal +assist and 5 shots) and Vladimir Tarasenko (Goal with 4 shots and 2 PIM) is clicking so get as much stock in it as you can.
Taylor Hall – Goal and 6 shots and 4 PIM in 23:35. Looking incredible right now with this massive ice time.
Zach Parise – Goal and assist. Hotter than any player in the league right now.
