Hey everyone! Reid joins me once again to do a thorough breakdown of the games on Tuesday, October 25th. We look at every single game focusing on the emergence of a new first line threat in New Jersey, the Sabres implosion in Philly, the domination of the Wild, Tampa’s big offensive breakout and much more. Now that we’re starting to build up a decent sample, there is more to take away from each game giving us a bigger fantasy hockey impact on a daily basis. Once we get through all of the games around the 50 minute mark, we introduce the Three Point Challenge. To copy what our partners at the basketball side of things has done, every night that the podcast comes out, we will attempt to pick a player outside of the top 10 in points in the NHL that will score 3+ points that night. I know it’s difficult but I’d rather it be tough! Listen to our picks on the podcast and please put your picks in the comments section of this post. All of that and more in the newest edition of the Razzball Hockey Podcast:

Thursday Streamers:
Vladislav Namestnikov (5.2%) – Going back to the well, consecutive multi-point games and can’t be placed in a better spot to produce at the moment.
Alexander Wennberg (6.3%) – We talked about him on the podcast; if you’re looking for assists from a lower owned player, he’s your guy /cliffs
Matt Moulson (2.7%) – It’s not the greatest matchup but with 4 goals in 5 games plus first line and power play time, Moulson deserves our attention.

So someone in my league just dropped John Carlson and Lindholm just signed. I have werenski as a dropable defenceman. Question is are either or those guys worth more? I’d lean more towards Carlson, but he is off to such a slow start, maybe there’s something wrong there.
@Quick Sycamore: Oh and I’ve also been shopping Tyler Johnson around, not just because of his slow start, but I have too many Lightning skaters(Kucherov, Drouin, Hedman, Johnson, and now currently holding Namestnikov because he plays on Sunday and we have limited weekly moves) and I usually don’t like to have more than three skaters per team. I was working on a spezza trade, but the owner pulled the plug and now he’s injured anyway. I kind of still want spezza, and now I think he actually might trade me because of the injury, think I should go for it?
@Quick Sycamore:
Grab Carlson and quick
@Quick Sycamore: Definitely grab Carlson and I’d probably go for it.
@Viz: Sadly he was picked up as I was typing my second comment.
@Quick Sycamore: Also, looks like that’s a no go on Spezza too. However, a Larkin owner is in a similar spot and has too many wings, he seems interesting in a Johnson trade. I know Larkin is just in his second year (have to worry about that sophomore slump) but they’re only a few spots apart in your rankings. That trade sound good to you?
Ps sorry if you covered Larkin in your podcast, haven’t had a chance to listen yet.
Hi Viz,
I’m back for more. Would sit any of the following to make room for Schwartz and/or Ehlers tonight? G, A, PIM, PPP, SOG, HIT, BLK
Nylander, Johansen, Forsberg, Marchessault, Matthews
Nashville has been off to a slow start, but I have faith in them. But I’m not sure what to make of the Dallas/Winnipeg matchup versus some of the others.
Or I could sit Laine for Ehlers I suppose but I have more faith in him.
Lastly just seeing the comment above that Lindholm just signed! I have been holding on to Kris Russel solely for the blocks, but maybe time to drop him?
Thanks!!!
@karlsson: Hey Karlsson. I’d probably start the 5 guys you have listed right now and keep Schwartz and Ehlers on the bench. Unless you are desperate for a big block total, I’d definitely make the swap. Just a warning that it will probably take a week for Lindholm to get his work visa so he won’t be playing immediately.
@Viz: thanks, as always!! I don’t have much in the way blocks with the rest of my skaters so that’s why he’s tempting, but may be worth it.
@karlsson: gotcha, I guess hold for now since Hampus won’t be playing and I can take a closer look at next week’s schedule and see if that changes anything
Fleury or Halak tonight? Or should I cross streams and start both of them?
@Scott: Definitely Fleury, I’d probably sit Halak but it’s close.
Drop Perron for Namestnikov?
@Scott: 100%
I have a lindholm question as well. Would you drop Seth jones to pick him up?
@Jj: It’s super close, depends on the categories but I’d lean towards keeping Jones unless the Ducks trade away Fowler.
Picked up Vessey as a streamer but I am thinking he should be a hold for now?. Have lots of talent on wire and need to know how to slot these guys. PTS=3, PP PTS=2, SOG=.4
Vrbata
Marner
Aho
Pearson
How panicked should I be about Pekka Rinne?
@Man Of Steel: Meh, I’d probably just keep using his spot as a streamer. I’d list them as Marner, Pearson, Vrbata, Aho. I mean, this is what Rinne is, he’s incredibly streaky and he’s on the downside right now. He’s the highest variance player in fantasy hockey. I still expect Nashville to right the ship.
wayne simmonds
@vic: just listened to podcast changing to voracek thought he wasn’t eligible
@vic: nope he’s good, I like the call, good luck! Maybe our guys will team up and get there
Hey guys, what’s a good place to check starting lineups for hockey?
@Jensen: Also, stream Steve Mason tonight vs Coyotes looking for that W?
@Jensen: Definitely stream Mason; honestly I would just set up a twitter account following each of the NHL teams or their local journalists. That way you get right to the minute injury info, scratches, starting goalies, etc.
hey viz what are your thoughts on vesey? is he just a streamer or worth holding onto? I enjoyed the podcast btw
@Shitwolf: I still think he’s a streamer but he’s getting really close. Thanks!
Looking for a Defenseman for 2 out of the next three days:
Trouba vs Dal, @Col
Myers vs Dal, @Col
Maata vs NYI, @Phi
Manning vs Ari, vs Pit
Gardiner vs Fla, @Mon
DeKeyser @StL, vs Bos
Severson vs Chi, vs TB
@Scott: Yuck, the options are pretty thin here. Umm, Myers or Severson depending on what categories you are trying to hit.
Thursday Three Point Challenge:
Darren Helm
@distant_station: bold but I kind of like it, I almost put him as one of my streamers. Good luck!
Do you play better players over good matchups? Example tonight, Konecny vs Ariz or Steen vs Det?
@Fungazi: I would go to Konecny because of the matchup but also he’s playing on the first line with giroux and voracek tonight which is a nice boost
Oh also for the challenge tonight I’m gonna pick marner
Just because I’m a leafs fan and want to see him have a monster game ?
@Shitwolf: sounds good, good luck!
@Shitwolf: Well done! First one on the board!
@Viz:
Haha lucky me thank you!
What’s with Spezza? He hasn’t been good and now he’s got a mysterious injury.
Should I be worried?
@Scott: a little bit I guess but not really, maybe a 4 out of 10
Ok Viz,
Here is how my team looks after somehow grabbing both Kucherov and Yandle off of waivers.
Now some genius just dropped. N.Mckinnon and S.Gotisbehere. Question is who to drop and which one should I give priority to? I like McKinnon overall more but Gotisbehere my have more value to my team.
What do you think?

@JJ: wow that’s absolutely insane, your league is crazy haha. I generally don’t carry an extra D so I’d be dropping Jones for him. Probably Loui for mackinnon although that could be any of the other guys we discussed. Their overall value should be close but with your forward depth I guess I’d give preference to Ghost. I can’t believe all of these guys are on waivers, they should be owned in like, 4 team leagues haha
@Viz:
Yup. League is nuts.
Im considering grabbing a 3rd goalie as well. But would have to drop some of my forward depth to do so.
Who would you grab out of C.Hellebuyck, F.Anderson, M.Neuvirth, M.Smith
@JJ: I would want nothing to do with Andersen or Smith so that leaves Hellboy and Neuvirth. Considering Neuvirth has been horrible and Mason has played fairly well, I’d go back to Hellboy
Wow marcheSault… that guy keeps scoring! Is he having a breakout or is this just a hot streak? Also marner has 2 points! just need 1 more haha
@Shitwolf:
Snap marner just got his 3rd point baller haha!
I was so wrong on my 3-point challenge
