Hey everyone!  Reid and I are back looking at the first week of the season with a focus on the last few days.  We start by looking at the high scoring around the league and the teams that will keep playing in wide open games, the dire situation in Los Angeles, Connor McDavid going pointless for two games (bum!) and the ceilings for Brent Burns and Joe Pavelski.  Look how beautiful Burns and Joe Thornton look on the streets of Pittsburgh!  After that, we breakdown Thursday and Friday night’s games looking at a few different things, namely whether they’ll be high or low scoring, what players are worth targeting for streaming and who the best daily fantasy candidates are.  All of that and more in the newest addition of the Razzball Hockey Podcast!

Thursday Streamers:

We cover this on the podcast but a short list of guys who are worth considering: Lee Stempniak, Patrick Eaves, Alex Killorn, David Perron, Erik Haula

      @Saints: Thanks for listening!

      I’ll be sure to bug Viz enough to get some general markers in there.

      To be fair to us, we tend to jump and intertwine topics and teams at a rather quick rate and go off topic a little bit, so maybe just general topic markers

      @Saints: I can try to put in time stamps, it just adds a lot of extra time for me to have to go back and listen to the exact moments we start talking about everything.

        @Viz:
        A little help (around minute 10 or around minute 25 would be enough the exact second isnt the problem 🙂 (maybe you can rememeber 3-4 marks when your recording 🙂 this would be awesome 🙂 )

          @Saints: Yeah that’s reasonable, I should be able to at least put them in where I insert the commercials, that’s easy enough, that’s the least I can do for my most frequent commenter 🙂 . I only ask that you listen to the first 2 minutes regardless because that is something that BlogTalkRadio includes in their stats and is important for us.

    I need to Start 2 out of 4:
    Marchessault ,Trocheck against Washington
    Staal and Grandlund against Toronto

    I need Goals,+/-,(SOG),(Hits),Blks

    I’m leaning toward Trocheck (never bench your studs) and Staal for the better matchup what do you think ?

    Better goalie stream tonight?
    Enroth @ Min
    Markstrom vs Buf

    Looking for a win primarily.

      @Scott: If you want a win, definitely Markstrom. Leafs are one of the biggest underdogs of the night while Markstrom is a home favorite.

    Hi Viz,

    I need to sit one of these guys tonight:
    Backstrom, Matthews, Kesler, Hanzal. Who do you think I should bench? I’m not concerned with +/- or hits–just points/ppp/sog. PIM are nice too but less essential.

    And I know you guys have been high to Stempniak lately. I have 1 more move this week and I’m thinking of dropping Kesler for him (which would also solve my sit/start problem) but I usually like to save my last move for over the weekend in case I need to catch up. I’m currently winning every category, but the margin isn’t significant especially in goalie cats. Would you pick him up for tonight or play it conservative and see how everything plays out over the next couple of days?

    thanks!!

      @karlsson: Hey Karlsson,

      First off, I’m definitely sitting Kesler if you don’t care about hits. His shots have been poor so far and I was extremely down on him coming into the season.

      I assume you’d have to sit another one of these guys to fit Stempniak in tonight? If that’s the case, then I would hold off on the move and make the move over the weekend if you don’t have to make another one to win your matchup.

        @Viz:

        Thanks, Viz!
        I actually have roster space for a winger tonight, I just have too many centers. Okposo is available too…

          Viz says:
          (link)

          @karlsson: No problem at all! I probably should have considered that haha. Here’s my thing: Okposo should definitely be owned, 100% no doubt about it. The problem is that tonight is their last game of the week, the Sabres don’t play again until Tuesday. So if possible, I wouldn’t grab him yet but I would make sure to grab him for next week since the Sabres have a 4 game week, including both Saturday and Sunday.

            @Viz: Okay, awesome, I’ll hopefully be able to pick him up next week. Thanks for your help!
