We’re back!  After my damn computer froze almost an hour into our talk, Reid and I run through things a second time but a first for everyone else.  We start off by taking a look at what has happened around the NHL in the first five days of the season.  We talk about Auston Matthews‘ four goal debut, Richard Panik and Joe Colborne getting hat tricks, some other guys who have started strong and how goals have been plentiful in the early going.  After recapping that and more, we take a look at the big picture in regards to streaming (Today’s streamers below).  Thanks to a commenter’s suggestion (Thanks Man Of Steel and everyone, please keep the comments coming), we look at what teams we are looking to take players on, what teams we are looking to target players against and what teams we want to avoid streaming against.  All of that and more in this week’s addition of the Razzball Hockey Podcast below:

Tuesday’s Streamers:

Martin Hanzal (18.9%) –  I talk about him a lot on the podcast but to be brief, I have no idea why the hell Hanzal is available in over 80% of leagues.  He’s must own in my mind while he’s healthy and a matchup with Ottawa tonight is great to take advantage of.

Lee Stempniak (16.5%) – Another guy we talk about on the pod, Stemp has 3 points in his first two games for Carolina and gets a matchup with the Oilers tonight.  Love the spot he’s in.

Nick Bonino (12.5%) – Going right back to after he had a point on Monday night (streamer success!).  Bonino played over 23 minutes on Monday; his role is outstanding right now including first power play.

Great podcast and thanks for the shout out! I listened to your first podcast last week while watching the Cubs game so I was a little distracted.. You were down on one of my forwards, it was either Sharp or Perry. I can’t remember which one, can you tell me who it was and why you are down on him?

    • Viz

@Man Of Steel: No problem at all! It was Perry but that was for next year, not this year, I’m not worried about him. We were talking about guys who could fall outside of my top 50 next season and with Perry’s age and declining PIM, it’s possible that Perry falls out but no guarantee.

@Viz: Sweet thanks for the info! I start two goalies tonight my choices are:
        Bishop Home vs. Fla
        Luongo Away vs. TB
        Rinne Home vs. Dal

        Which two should I start?

        • Viz

          Viz says:
          (link)

No problem at all. Early indication is that Reimer is starting for Florida tonight so the decision was made for you; sit Luongo.

Any worry about Larkin? Would you start any of eaves Reinhart or marner in his place till he gets it together?

    • Viz

      Viz says:

@Vic: I’m starting to worry a little bit but I’ll leave him in for the rest of this week before I make a move.

Thoughts on dropping Reily Smith for Patrick Eaves? Am I just being impatient?

    • Viz

      Viz says:
      (link)

@Mal: It’s pretty close and I think I’d actually make the switch. I doubt anyone will be rushing to grab Smith off waivers anyways the way that he’s playing so if Eaves loses his role or slows down, you should be able to switch them back.

  4. Scott says:

Who do you like better tonight?
    Taylor Hall vs Anaheim
    Jason Spezza @ Nashville

    • Viz

      Viz says:
      (link)

      @Scott: Give me Hall

  5. Scott says:
    (link)

    Sit or start?
    Halak vs SJ
    Zatkoff @Min

    • Viz

      Viz says:
      (link)

@Scott: I think I’d start both actually. Sharks on a back to back makes Halak a little better and given that they gave up 7 goals last night, I expect a tighter game. Kings Wild should be a low scoring guy so it’s a good spot for Zatkoff.

I would like to pick up Justin Schultz for a possible breakout season.

Which Forward would you feel comfortable dropping? I have plenty.

    Cam Atkinson
    Mika Zibanejad
    Nazem Kadri

    • Viz

      Viz says:

@Scott: I’m not a fan of Schultz but if you want to make the move, I guess it would be Kadri right now.

    Hi Viz,

Thanks for the great podcast! Thoughts on Okposo vs Hanzal? We count G A PPP PIM HIT BLK SOG
Marchessault is available too. I have 2 more moves this week, but would like to save 1 for the end of the week to do some catch up wherever I need to. As of now it’s close everywhere but hits (I have a 25 hit lead).

Guys I could part with for them: Brouwer, Kesler, Backstrom.

    Thanks!

    • Viz

      Viz says:
      (link)

Thanks! I’d stick with Okposo, he looked very good in his first game and the points should be better than Hanzal. Marchessault is close to Brouwer and it depends on how badly you need the hits.

Once again I’m copyying my post to get your attention 😀 😀
“No Problem just wanted to make sure that i can get your attention 😉 😀
I have found a better option for Audette i got a 4th round pick for him 🙂
I was confused that stuart wasn’t playing the first game and missed that he played the game on saturday but he missed the game on monday again (as a healthy scratch?) The minutes arent there either so its time to drop him isnt it ?

Yeah i will push Zaitsev up on wednesday. You would definetly prefer Marchessault over Staal in the lineup tonight Or ?

Thanks for answering this many questions 🙂”

    • Viz

      Viz says:
      (link)

Sorry, been a busy couple nights. Stuart is definitely droppable, his lineup spot is already in trouble and if the Trouba situation gets resolved, most likely by a trade, I imagine the Jets get a D back and it pushes him further down the depth start. I would have gone Marchessault despite the bad matchup.

  9. Good day Viz. Help a fantasy brotha out w/advice? Who to start tonight:

Justin Faulk or Yandle, Chris Kunitz or Galchenyuk.

    G 3, A 2, PIM 0.5, PPG 2, PPA 1, SOG 0.5, HIT 1, DEF 0.5

    • @madden_curser: In our league, Kunitz is averaging 9 pts./game, Galchenyuk 4. Also, Faulk 8 per & Yandle 2.25, so leaning Faulk & Kunitz tonight.

      • Viz

        Viz says:
        (link)

@madden_curser: Sorry that I was too busy to get to this earlier, some family stuff. Man your league puts a big priority on hits that I would have gone Kunitz and then Faulk given Oilers matchup

I really enjoyed the betting portion of your podcast. Is there anyway you could maybe make a section of any plays of the day you have? Examples Over/unders, Teams are heavy underdogs that might win

For example: I like the Devils over the Ducks tonight.

    • Viz

      Viz says:
      (link)

Glad to hear that! I enjoy it too. We can try, especially in regards to over unders because it’s easy to figure out what the line will be. The only issue is that we record a day before the podcast goes up to give me time to edit, get on BlogTalkRadio and iTunes, etc. so the majority of the time we won’t have all of the game lines for the next day. Talking about what games will be high scoring or low scoring is certainly worth discussion for its fantasy impact.

Vasilevskiy or Reimer? This is for a 3rd goalie in a 2 start goalie 12 team league

    • Viz

      Viz says:

Vasilevskiy for me fairly easily now that Cooper has said that Vas is going to start 25-30 games.

viz! whats up man! listening to your pod now…. I promised myself at the start of this season i would wait on making moves but i cant help myself. I’m a move addict, but I feel like these moves will put me ahead for the rest of the season. This week is a wash due to injuries/suspension so I don’t mind throwing it to help me in the long run.First things first I used my 7 waiver and landed eichel woot woot so my one and only IR is burnt! Then I picked up Jaden Schwartz for ehlers my logic being he is going to be on the first line with vlad and steen and he seems to be close to returning, and then I grabbed Marner instead of Kadri like we talked about 🙂

I’m pretty happy with the moves, pretty sure nobody is going to pick up ehlers in my league anyway…. The last move I could make that I feel would help my team in the long run is dropping hellboy for Matt Murray, but with only 1 IR spot I’m gonna be losing a bench slot for the next couple weeks until he returns…. is it worth it for the future or should I wait and hope nobody picks him up? Not a fan of hellboy so far

Hay viz thanks for the Podcast can you pls write a little “index” next time with exact minutes of the Topics ? I really like to hear those things but sometimes i dont have the time to listen to all that stuff so i just want to choose the very important ones. Your intro post is nice but the exact minute where you talk about it would be a nice help for me 🙂
