Hello everyone!  Reid joins me once again to look at players who have started on opposite sides of the spectrum.  We open up by looking at a bunch of different players who were drafted in all leagues and have started slowly.  We look at each player’s current situation and decide whether we’d buy low, sell if we had the player or stand pat.  Around the 35 minute mark, we flip the table and look at a set of players who have started off better than expected.  Should you sell high on the player?  Should you try to target the player in a trade?  All of that and more in this edition of the Razzball Hockey Podcast.  Below are also streamers for Tuesday’s games:

Tuesday’s Streamers:

Tanner Pearson (19.1%) – He’s hotter than a pistol to start the season and gets to play Columbus at home.  Despite Bob locking things down the last two games, there’s a lot to like here and not just for tonight.

David Perron (10.1%) – Talked about him in the Monday notes.  In regards to this game, he gets Calgary again who a) he just scored a hat trick against and b) is a complete dumpster fire defensively right now.  The more Blues you have in this game, the better.

Vladislav Namestnikov (3.6%) – He had a goal and assist over the weekend against Ottawa and more importantly, Namestnikov moved up to the first line.  He’s also on the first power play unit right now and gets a matchup with Toronto who is giving up a ton of goals at the moment.

    Scheifele and Kesler are a lock in my mind (Kesler brings hits,FOW,PIM and SOG which i need all)
    But I’m not sure who i shoul play in the 3rd Spot. Staal has the better matchup;Marchessault was the best Pointscorer so far and Trocheck the best all around player but they play Pit. What are your thoughts who would you start in the 3rd slot ?

      Thanks! I’d go with Staal considering Boston is done to Malcolm Subban in net tonight.

      @What’s a Drexl?: Yeah you can safely drop Ennis at this point, he hasn’t looked good the first four games.

      @Jj: Wow that’s crazy; you absolutely have to grab Kucherov first. Giving the slow start, I’d drop Larkin right now. I’d also grab Yandle for Rielly but give Kucherov first priority.

      • JJ says:
        (link)

        @Viz:
        Hmm. Kind of surprised. I thought you would say to drop Drouin or Hellebuyck first. Still think I should drop Larkin after his 2 goals so far tonight?

        • Viz

          Viz says:
          (link)

          @JJ: You can drop Hellboy if you want to, wasn’t sure if you wanted to go down to 2 goalies. If you’re willing to go down to 2 goalies, then drop Hellboy for Kucherov; you have to add Kucherov no matter what.

          • JJ says:
            (link)

            @Viz:
            I have the number 1 pick so I am getting him. Just unsure of who to drop to grab him. Have no problem dropping Hellboy. Hasn’t even won the starting gig yet. I will drop Reilly for Yandle if he’s still available. Still not sure which winger to let go though. I see their values being all very similar. Drouin, Hoffman, Larkin.

              @JJ:
              I think that I would drop Toews to grab Backstrom as well.
              How would you rank Drouin, Hoffman, Larkin?

              • Viz

                Viz says:
                (link)

                @JJ: I’d be fine with dropping Toews too, he’s right there with the wingers you listed above. I’d have them in the order you wrote them right now, Drouin Hoffman Larkin

                • JJ says:
                  (link)

                  @Viz:
                  Feeling a bit like I’m beating a dead horse now but would you drop L.Eriksson before Larkin? Just trying to see where he slots in in the previous group of 3

                  • Viz

                    Viz says:
                    (link)

                    @JJ: No worries at all. Man, he’s definitely after Hoffman so he’s in a tier with Larkin. I’d lean towards dropping Loui first but it’s a very close call in either direction.

    Come on Torey Krug!

    Drop Patrick Eaves for Radim Vrbata?

    What to with Boone Jenner and Jayden Schwartz? They are riding my bench right now and Pearson, Coyle, Vrbata, Perron, Beauvillier are looking pretty good on the stat sheet.

    • Viz

      Viz says:
      (link)

      @Matt: Yes, let’s go Krug! Given that Eaves is hurt right now, I’d drop him for Vrbata, Pearson or Coyle if you don’t care about positions. I’m giving Jenner and Schwartz a few more games; I had Jenner on my list to discuss and somehow skipped over him. It’s a discouraging start but after last season’s big year I’m giving him some more time. Schwartz same boat, he’ll work his way out of it.

    Great podcast, very informative. Five guys available on waiver wire PTS=3, PP PTS =2, SOG=.4
    Sutter Van
    Vrbata Ari
    Lindholm/Aho/Teravinen Car

    Are they all pretty even or do 1 or 2 stand out to you?

    • Viz

      Viz says:
      (link)

      @Man Of Steel: Thanks! I’d say Vrbata is the best right now by a decent amount, he’s the best in shots fairly easily and has the biggest power play role.

    Need to drop someone to activate Crosby.

    who would you drop:

    D. Phaneuf
    N. Ehlers
    Hellebuyck

    Cheers

      Viz says:

      @DancinHomer: unless you need the defenseman, Phaneuf pretty easily

  7. Shitwolf says:

    Hey viz have a few guys off to a slow start and want to use one spot as a streamer Reinhart and Johnson have been my worst performers… thinking Reinhart is the lowest guy on the totem pole right now would you be cool to drop him at this point? I could stream provorov in 3 games rest of the week

    • Viz

      Viz says:
      (link)

      @Shitwolf: Hey man, yeah I think right now you’re okay dropping him. I’d just keep an eye on him and if he starts to turn things around, I’d be sure to pick him back up.

      • Shitwolf says:
        (link)

        @Viz:

        Ya it’s a shame cuz I like him and I think he will do well at some point just not feeling him right now especially without room to play him… I picked up vesey to stream might switch it to provorov depending on how vesey does.. I like that he is on the 1st line and the pp though but prov is playing a lot of minutes
