JOT This Down: Volume One

Hello everyone. Welcome to the first edition of JOT This Down!

For those who do not know me, my name is Julian Tarevski (Jules) and I am a fantasy sports content contributor from London, Ontario. (I may be an Ontarian but please do not assume I am a Maple Leafs fan.) I will be here every week with a newsletter, think of it like a message to start your Monday and help you prepare for your weekly matchup. I will cover notable line changes, guys who jumped up on the top powerplay unit, category fillers to watch, and sleepers to stream with favorable schedules. 

Week 1 (October 10th-15th) 

As for week 1, the Capitals, Coyotes, Islanders, and Stars only play one game each this week, whereas all other teams play at least two. The Blackhawks, Golden Knights, Hurricanes, Kraken, Lightning, Penguins, Predators, and Senators all play three games. 

Sleepers to Stream-(will usually look at players on teams with good matchups this week)

• Seth Jarvis (CAR)
• Lukas Reichel (CHI)
• Chandler Stephenson (VKG)
• Cody Glass (NSH)
• Josh Norris (OTT) *is questionable for opening night 
• Reilly Smith (PIT)
• Andre Burakovsky (SEA)
• Jonas Johansson (TBL)

Notable Line Changes-(line changes to even strength units along with who may be good stack options)

• Pavel Zacha (BOS) seems to be filling the top-line role left behind by Patrice Bergeron. Pairs well if you roster David Pastrnak.
• Connor Clifton (BUF) skating on top pair with Rasmus Dahlin 
• Kirill Marchenko (CBJ) skating on the top line with Patrik Laine and Johnny Gaudreau. 
• Ryan Donato (CHI) getting a look with Taylor Hall and Connor Bedard on the top line.
• Johnathan Drouin (COL) skating on the top line with Nathan Mackinnon and Mikko Rantanen.
• Connor Brown (EDM) skating on the top line with Connor McDavid
• Quinton Byfield (LAK) skating with Anze Kopitar and Adrian Kempe
• Sean Couturier (PHI) is healthy and back to his workhorse role on the top line and PP1
• Filip Zadina (SJS) skating on top line with Tomas Hertl
• Gabe Vilardi (WPG) skating with Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor on the top line

PowerPlay Unit Exposure-(examine any notable movements on the top powerplay unit. I will not say “McDavid is on PP1” because that is obvious. However, if someone gets boosted onto PP1 with McDavid, they will be posted here)

• J.J. Moser (ARI) getting a look as PP1 QB
• Adam Fantilli (CBJ) skating on PP1 unit
• Yegor Sharangovich (CGY) on the PP1 unit 
• Ryan Johansen (COL) getting a look on PP1 unit 
• David Perron (DET) getting a look on the PP1 unit
• Oliver Ekman-Larsson (FLA) getting a look as PP1 QB
• Calen Addison (MIN) getting a look as PP1 QB
• Michael Matheson (MTL)  getting a look as PP1 QB
• Luke Evangelista (NSH) getting good exposure on PP1 unit
• Vincent Trocheck (NYR) gaining elite exposure on the PP1 unit
• Alex Iafallo (WPG) skating with PP1 unit

Category Fillers to Stream-(Think of this first edition as an early season primer, whereas weeks after will be more weekly specific. The schedule is wonky to start so these are guys to jump on early as the season gets going) 

*Please provide feedback if these players are available or not in your league. I can include a fourth category of players under 5% rostered or something like that for the hardcore leagues. I am just trying to learn my audience as the season goes on.
