Happy Wednesday, Razzball faithful!
Apparently, all we needed to do to wake up the sleeping Panther kitties was to reunite the Tkachuk brothers in the Sunshine state (even if one was only visiting) and to tell Linus Ullmark that he was back with the 2020 Buffalo Sabres.
Our favorite Swedish goalie, whose name rhymes with a giggle-worthy body part, had one of the roughest starts of his career in Florida on Tuesday night.
Florida struck with pointed claws just 63 seconds into the game, and Mr. Ullmark was yanked after allowing 5 goals on just 16 shots. Oh, Linus.
It was a kick in the stomach for a surging Sens squad, who found themselves out of a wild-card spot by just two points when they started the day. By the end of the night, Ullmark and the rest of his Senators brethren were on the wrong side of a 6-3 loss to the back-to-back Stanley Cup champs.
As for Florida’s big win on the night, one thing remains clear: If you mess with the Panther, sometimes you get the claws.
Who knew all the Florida Panthers needed to give them a jolt was the promise that if they gained two points, they’d be just two points behind the Toronto Maple Leafs (with a game in hand!)?
And speaking of points, there were a lot of them in this game. But what kind of lopsided score sheets can we look through elsewhere in the league?
Here’s what else I saw in Tuesday night’s NHL action…
Linus Ullmark – 11 saves on 16 shots and the loss. Removed after 14:36 in the first period. Yeesh.
James Reimer – 12 saves on 13 shots. You know it’s bad when your starter gets pulled in favor of James Reimer.
Michael Amadio – 1 G (13), 1 A (19), +1, 2 SOG. 6 points in his last 10 games, but I wouldn’t be rostering him in anything but a very deep league.
Daniil Tarasov – 22 saves on 25 shots in the 6-3 win vs OTT. This one broke a personal 4-game losing streak for Florida’s backup goalie.
Carter Verhaeghe – 2 G (23), 1 A (30), 6 SOG, 1 H, 1 BLK. There were a bunch of points in this one. It may be too little too late for the Panthers, but that doesn’t mean they can’t spoil some playoff hopes for everyone else the rest of the way.
Matthew Tkachuk – 1 G (13), 3 A (18), 5 SOG, 1 H, 17:13 TOI. He’s over a point-per-game and has 12 points in his last 10 GP.
Seth Jones – 3 A (23), +2, 1 SOG, 1 H. 10 different Panthers recorded at least one point in this game. Talk about sharing the wealth.
Joonas Korpisalo – 13 saves on 16 shots and the 6-3 win vs DAL. Don’t look now, kids, but the Bruins are on a bit of a heater. This was their 4th dub in a row, and the last three games weren’t cookie matchups by any means. A convincing three-goal win over Minnesota, and two overtime wins against Buffalo and Columbus, gave the Bruins important points and a serious boost in confidence. Last night’s win vs DAL tied them for 4th place in the conference (albeit briefly with Montreal). It’s a dogfight for positioning in the Eastern playoff picture, and Boston is hitting its stride.
Viktor Arvidsson – 3 G (24), +1, 2 PIM, 4 SOG, and 9 points in his last 4 games. Red-hot!
David Pastrnak – 3 A (66), +3, 2 PIM, 3 SOG, 18:27 TOI. Ah, yes, noted playmaker David Pastrnak. Pasta is a goal-scorer first, but the 66 assists are good for 4th-best in the league, too (tied with Evan Bouchard and Quinn Hughes).
Jake Oettinger – 17 saves on 21 shots in the 6-3 loss. Dallas had already clinched a playoff spot and recorded their 100th point of the year. If my favorite team were in the West, I wouldn’t want them to be facing the Stars in Round 1.
Wyatt Johnston – 1 G (41), 1 A (39), -1, 1 SOG, 2 H, 3 BLK, 23:04 TOI. The goal came with about a minute left in regulation, but even if it didn’t mean much on the scoreboard, it was still a thing of beauty. A guy with 41 goals on the year isn’t exactly flying under anyone’s radar, but Wyatt Johnston isn’t as much of a household name as he should be, that’s for sure.
Jason Robertson – 2 A (49), -3, 2 PIM, 2 SOG. It’s funny that NESN ran a graphic early in the game showing both of these guys. Dallas is SO deep that they boast TWO 40-goal scorers…and neither one of them is Mikko Rantanen.
Jacob Markstrom – 18 saves on 22 shots and the 4-1 loss at NYR. Is it really that bad if you lose to the 3rd-worst team in the league, but are also pretty darn close to the bottom 10 in that list as well? BUT…is there anything worth checking in on with these two goalies?! Why, yes, there is!

— Rangers Videos (@SNYRangers) April 1, 2026
Luke Hughes – 1 A (29), 4 SOG. 7 points in his last 10 games is ok, but 35 points in 64 GP is pretty “Meh”.
Igor Shesterkin – 22 saves on 23 shots in the win vs NJ. The Rangers are playing for nothing more than pride as they put in time until the final game of the year. Beating Jersey or the Islanders counts as one of those “moral victories” now, though.
Adam Fox – 2 A (38), +1, 1 H, 1 BLK. Having Adam Fox healthy for the whole year might not have made the difference between where they are now and a potential playoff berth, but his 44 points in 48 games pace would have certainly been welcomed throughout a full season.
Ilya Sorokin – 29 saves on 32 shots and the 4-3 loss at BUF. It wasn’t as bad as the 7 GA vs PIT in his last start, but Sorokin has won just 4 of his last 10 starts.
Brayden Schenn – 1 G (17), 1 A (21), 1 SOG, 3 H. I almost forgot Schenn was traded to NYI at the deadline. He’s a solid streamer, if not an auto-start.
Bo Horvat – 3 A (25), 3 SOG, 1 H, 12-for-23 FOW, 21:22 TOI. It felt a bit like David Pastrnak’s night with a handful of assists from a goal-scorer, but at least they were padding the stats column for our fantasy clubs.
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen – 25 saves on 28 shots and the 4-3 win vs NYI. If anyone was waiting for the Sabres to hit a rut after their “hot streak”, I’ve got bad news for you. The division title isn’t a given, but if anyone had said back in October that Buffalo would be at the 100-point threshold with 7 games to go, I think they would have been laughed out of the room. Not now, though!
Tage Thompson – 1 G (38), 1 A (40), 3 SOG, 1 H, 7-for-12 FOW, 21:31 TOI.
Jack Quinn – 1 G (18), 1 A (39), -1, 7 SOG, 3 H, 16:11 TOI. It’s safe to say that the PP1 group is clicking on all cylinders.
John Gibson – 11 saves on 14 shots and the early hook after the first period. Gibson was still saddled with the loss, though.
Cam Talbot – 15 saves on 17 shots and the no-decision.
Stuart Skinner – 22 saves on 23 shots and the 5-1 win vs DET. This one helps some of the teams in the Eastern conference race, but it doesn’t help clear up any of the point-clog. Just 10 points separate 1st and 8th place in the East
Yegor Chinakhov – 1 G (18), 1 A (16), +2, 1 SOG, 1 H. He’s worth streaming (at the very least) as long as he’s riding shotgun on that first line with Sidney Crosby and Bryan Rust.
Jakub Dobes – 36 saves on 37 shots and the 4-1 win at TB. WHAT?! This guy faces almost 40 shots against the top team in the East and just stonewalls them? Don’t look now, folks, but the Habs are for real. I don’t know how the first round matchups are going to shake out, but the East is going to be a nasty minefield to navigate.
Cole Caufield – 1 G (47), 1 A (34), 4 SOG, 17:04 TOI. It was a ‘share the wealth’ kind of night in Tampa with Mike Matheson and Juraj Slafkovsky each tallying a goal and an assist as well.
Andrei Vasilevskiy – 19 saves on 21 shots and the loss vs MTL. He’s lost two of his last three starts, but he’s still the elite option that he’s always been.
Jake Guentzel – 1 G (36), -1, 6 PIM, 2 SOG, 2 BLK. That’s a 5-game goal-scoring streak for Guentzel!
Dan Vladar – 12 saves on 17 shots and the 6-4 loss at WSH. Way to go, Vladar. I was all ready to use another sith lord pun when you recorded another win, but you didn’t hold up your end of the deal. Do not fail me again!
Travis Sanheim – 1 G (9), 1 A (24), +2, 4 SOG, 1 BLK. Streamer at best in those shallow leagues.
Christian Dvorak – 1 G (16), 1 A (30), 3 SOG, 1 H, 1 BLK. CTL-C, CTRL-V (above)
Logan Thompson – 20 saves on 24 shots and the 6-4 win vs PHI. The good news is that’s three straight wins for Thompson. The bad news is he’s given up 12 GA in those three games. Ouch.
Tom Wilson – 2 G (27), +1, 3 SOG, 2 H. Just 4 pts now in his last 10 GP, but we’re not rostering him just for the points.
Alexander Ovechkin – 2 G (31), 3 SOG, GWG, 3 H, 1 BLK. 15:44 TOI. 9 points in his last 10 games. Serious question: When he finally retires, where does Ovie rank in the best players of all-time? Is he 4th behind Orr, Gretzky, Lemieux? Are you putting anyone above him?
Jakob Chychrun – 1 G (24), 2 A (32), +2, 2 SOG, 1 H, 3 BLK. He’s gonna hit 60 points for the first time in his career.
Pierre-Luc Dubois – 4 A (9), +1, 2 H. Here’s hoping you started him this week in your H2H playoffs!
Brandon Bussi – 23 saves on 25 shots and the 5-2 win at CLM. The Red Wings AND the Blue Jackets lost last night? Hmm…very interesting! (said every Bruin, Islander, and Penguin fan).
Nikolaj Ehlers – 1 G (24), 2 A (40), 3 SOG. Is it me, or does this guy never get the credit for always ending up with 60ish points every year?
Andrei Svechnikov – 1 G (27), 1 A (37), 2 PIM, 1 SOG, 2 H. Way to make the most out of that one shot, Svech!
Jet Greaves – 26 saves on 30 shots and the loss (vs CAR). Greaves lost the “Battle of the Babies” to fellow rookie, Bussi. As if that’s the worst news, Greaves has now won just one of his last five starts. Not an ideal time to start falling apart, Jet!
Kirill Marchenko – 1 G (26), 1 A (37), +1, 5 SOG, 18:20 TOI. A solid season with nearly a point-per-game pace from my preseason “Marmo Magic” pick.
Mason Marchment – 2 A (22), +2, 2 PIM, 3 H, 2 BLK, and a little bit of everything for those of us in leagues with those extra categories.
Connor Hellebuyck – 18 saves on 21 shots and the 4-3 OTW at CHI. I said it last week, and it bears repeating, but the Jets have tried to prove that it’s not too late to make a charge. Coming into last night’s game, Winnipeg had a 2% chance to make the playoffs. Needless to say, this was a huge two points for the Jets, who have now won 4 of their last 5 games. They’re one point out of a playoff spot.
Josh Morrissey – 1 G (13), 1 A (39), +2, 1 SOG. He has a 5-game point streak.
Mark Scheifele – 3 A (58), -1, 1 SOG. 92 points in 74 games and the main engine that makes the Jets fly.
Kyle Connor – 1 G (34), 1 A (51), -1, 4 SOG, GWG. Mark Schiefele won the opening faceoff in overtime, drew it back to Josh Morrissey, who then drove the net and fed Kyle “KFC” Connor in the slot for the game-winner. 33 seconds into overtime is a nice way to say, “Can we just go home already?”
Spencer Knight – 20 saves on 24 shots in the OTL. He’s won just 2 of his last 10 games. Knighty knight, Spencer.
Tyler Bertuzzi – 2 G (31), +2, 3 SOG, 4 H, 20:03 TOI. Wait. Tyler Bertuzzi plays 20:03 and scores two goals while adding four hits, and Connor Bedard skates for 19:57, and the only stat on his page is a -2?! Oh……Kay.
Joey Daccord – 19 saves on 21 shots and down 2-0 with 7 minutes left in the third period. Including last night, Daccord has just one win in his last 7 GS. Woof.
Connor Ingram – 25 saves on 25 shots and …uh…7 minutes left in the third without giving up a…you-know-what. What? I’m not jinxing ANYTHING!
Kasperi Kapanen – 1 G (8), +1, 2 SOG, 2 BLK. Ah, there’s the guy to fill that goal-scoring void left behind since the Leon Draisaitl injury. Ugh.
That’s all for this week! I’ll be back for another full schedule next Tuesday. I hope you enjoyed it. If you have any questions or comments, leave them below, and I’ll get back to you ASAP.
Happy Wednesday, and I’ll see you next week!
