Surprise!  I said yesterday that I wasn’t going to have an article today but instead of posting my streamers in the comments section, I will post a short, separate article with my top options.  I said here that Leon Draisaitl was a must-add right now.  While his ownership is increasing rapidly, he’s still only 36% owned on ESPN.  He gets an amazing matchup against Philly and to make it even better, it’s at home with Philly on a back to back.  He’s locked into the top line with Taylor Hall and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and the top power play unit.  Here’s a look at some other guys who are available in most leagues that can help you out tonight:

Benoit Pouliot (5.0%) – Same as Draisaitl except on the second line and second power play unit.  Still, it’s a great spot against Philly.

Brett Connolly (0.7%) – He has four goals in the last 5 games and will be on the first line and the second power play unit in a game that I expect to be wide open against Dallas.

Chris Tierney (0.0%) – Digging deep on this one but Tierney has been playing on the Sharks’ lethal first power play unit.  The Blue Jackets have been a mess defensively for most of the year and have the worst penalty kill in the league so far this season.

Brayden Schenn (27.9%) – I’m not the biggest fan of Schenn but the Oilers defense is still a mess and he’s back on the first power play unit in place of Michael Raffl.

Teemu Pulkkinen (5.5%) – I’m going back to the well with Pulkkinen.  Tampa Bay is getting up goals at a fairly high rate and while he only played 10 minutes last game, I expect that to be an outlier with the power play time he normally gets.

Carl Soderberg (28.3) – Another guy who I’m not a big fan of but all indications are that he’s going to play with Gabriel Landeskog and Matt Duchene tonight.  Calgary has been a trainwreck and while I don’t expect that to continue at this level, it’s still a good spot.

Anders Nilsson (0.3%) – This one is a little bold but the Flyers offense is struggling right now, they’re on a back to back and the Oilers are at home.  He’s already been confirmed the starter and the Oilers are -135 tonight meaning there’s a good chance to get a win from Nilsson.

That should be enough options for everyone for tonight.  Hopefully they pay off for you!  I’ll be back tomorrow with a recap of Monday and Tuesday’s games.  As always, post any questions and comments below and I’ll do my best to respond.  Also, be sure to check out Marv’s article that is out today.  Take care everyone!

    Thanks Viz! Woo hoo, picked up Draisatl yesterday based on your advice. Any word on the Vincent Trochek situation?

      @Scott: Nice, hopefully it pans out tonight! He’s currently on the second line and second power play so he has some value going forward. He’s still not a must own in 12’ers though.

    Added Draisatl and Nilsson this morning, then came here and read this. Nice to have some confirmation that these are reasonable moves. All of my spot starts this year have been wins. *crosses fingers*

      @Ben: Good call! That worked out very well even though Nilsson’s stats weren’t great across the board.

    N.Ritchie and T.Koecny. Do i have a drop for any of

    Perlini/Tuch/H.Fleury/P.Buchnevich/Demko

    From yesterday, yes i own the 2nd list. We have 10 minor slots. the 5 i didn’t mention are clearly good enough for it not to be a question. Ritchie/Koecny would be the possible adds.

      Wow man. You are in deep. I’ve never even heard of these guys. : )

        @Ben: 10 teamer with deep benches, and 10 minor league slots. All of those guys are prospects, none in NHL, some years away. They are all fairly high ranked/drafted guys though.

          @goodfold2: I’ll show THN’s last spring rank
          Perlini = possible power winger on ARI LW (34)
          N.Ritchie = LW ANA power winger (16)
          Tuch = RW MIN power winger (21)
          H.Fleury = D CAR likely shutdown, possible pts upside, but last year his offensive production went down. better for real life than fantasy, but still possibly good, we have hits/blocks. (28). in like 3-4 years him/faulk/hanifin could be quite sick 3 D men for CAR
          P.Buchnevich = all forward positions right now. speedy with good hands but not sized well and likely little D. his rating/ranking is all over the place since he’s Russian. (63)
          Demko = G VAN. High upside, D rating for floor (meaning at his age he’s not that likely right now to say he will hit upside) (63)
          Koecny = C PHI. just drafted this year. smallish fearless scoring center. supposedly good upside, but ratings aren’t wonderful compared to at least some of these other guys. drafted 24th.

      @goodfold2: I think I’m holding tight although Ritchie for Fleury or Perlini is really close for me. I’m a HUGE fan of the Butcher, Tuch is easy for me and Demko has such a high ceiling that I’d hold. If you need the defenseman, I’m holding Fleury but if you don’t, I’d switch for Ritchie. Ritchie and Perlini are almost a coin flip for me.

        @Viz: having a 2nd bench D man for a while (hunwick, but more importantly adding de haan) has moved me all the way into mid pack in hits and 3rd in blocks (WOW is it easy to move up in blocks). bottom of league in faceoffs and that ain’t getting any better. I did contact Fantrax and in 25 minutes they made Fabbri LW since that’s what he plays in NHL. Fantrax is so good. I could drop Hunwick (there’s lots of guys similar to him, some with pts) grab Ritchie, slot Fabbri back to majors for now.

          @goodfold2: there’s so many D men out there in this kind of league, unless fleury comes up and does what ekblad did (pts and hits/blocks right away, which is all kinds of rare) i’m probably better off with not dropping power winger prospects. I have Morrisey too for D prospects. He’s got higher pts ceiling of course than Fleury.

          @goodfold2: wow nice , that was quick. I think I would grab Ritchie and call up Fabbri then. I can’t see Fleury doing that well immediately when he gets called up, which shouldn’t happen any time soon.

            @Viz: i mixed up their off waiver times, so i got koecny, but a team lower than me (our waivers are ALWAYS by standings, and it’s roto), so the 9th team got Ritchie. Had he not done that i’d have wasted a move grabbing Koecny and later dropping for Ritchie. With Hanzal coming back i’ll likely just drop Koecny and re-minor Fabbri. I have him playing today. I did almost have a trade involving Koecny today though.
