You know that feeling you get in your stomach when you get pulled over by a cop?   Yeah that’s the feeling I got when I read this.  Stupid clumsy Kunitz!  I warned all Crosby owners (including myself) another concussion was a distinct possibility and that if it did happen it would likely end his season (again).  The good news is they’re saying tests have already ruled out a concussion, but the bad news is he’s sitting out the next 2 games for “precautionary” reasons.  In hockey, “precautionary” is code word for “we have no Friggin clue what it is or how bad it could be.”  Meaning grab the Peptol Bismol you Crosby owners, the news could be getting alot worse over the next couple days…

Nicklas Backstrom – C (Wsh):  Looks like he finally ended his cold streak.  After “just” 7 Points in 12 games Nicklas with a C had a Goal and Assist yesterday.  Now lets just hope the Grinch doesn’t steal the Who’s Christmas…

Erik Condra – RW (Ott):  Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A B A…………  START!

Alex Ovechkin – RW (Wsh):  I just realized I haven’t said much about Ovie this year, other than the fact that he’s a lazy Russian.  And he’s overweight.. And he’s a coach killer…. And he’s on pace for a whopping 27 Goals…..  But hey he had a Goal yesterday and his name is still Alex Ovechkin, so there’s that.

Thomas Vanek – LW (Buf):  Despite the Goal Vanek’s arrow is still pointing down.  After a crazy-hot start he’s cooled with just 4 points in Buffalo’s last 8 games.  The problem?  He’s still not a big name.  Meaning there’s no point in trying to sell high, you won’t get anything more than equal value.

Claude Giroux – C/RW (Phi):  I gotta admit Giroux is far exceeding my expectations.  I thought he’d improve from last season, but this is just ridiculous.  If he keeps up this pace his season stats will look something like this:  48G/60A/39PPP/+18/234SOG.  Yeah I had to double check my math on that one.  Seems a little crazy.  If he keeps it up I’ll be recommending him as a Top 5 pick next summer…

Matt Read – C/RW (Phi):  I could’ve sworn I wrote about this guy sometime in the last month.  But ALAS!  Nothing is coming up in my internal database.  Anyway 11 Goals in 23 Games, playing on a line with Giroux, at just 30% ownership, makes Read one of the more undervalued players in fantasy right now.

Tuomo Ruutu – C/LW (Car):  Party like a Waiver Wire All Star!  Ruutu notched his 9th Goal of the season yesterday and has the rare combination of Goals, Power Play Points, Penalty Minutes, and low ownership levels.  In H2H leagues he’s a great guy to stream early in the week (when you don’t know what category you should be streaming for).

Tim Gleason – D (Car):  POW!  Right in the kisser!  17 PIM’s is only fitting for the son of the original Fred Flinstone – Jackie Gleason.  If you’ve never watched the Honeymooners, I suggest you do.  (I think Nick @ Nite plays old episodes every once in a while).  His character on that show, Ralph Kramden, is the Godfather of the modern TV Dad:  From Fred Flinstone to Al Bundy to Homer Simpson to Peter Griffin they’re all tied together by the same theme: Male Chauvinism…

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins – C (Edm):  RNH is doing a fine job PPITN (Puttin Pucks In The Net).  The only thing keeping him from the Calder Trophy is health.  Pretty crazy considering he wasn’t even drafted in alot of leagues.  These are the kind of players that win Championships.

Also, Ovechkin got away with spearing Neil. Could have added 4 PIM to his line.

First off just want to say thanks for the awesome job you’ve been doing, DC. Love the Razzball sites.

Second, I have a potential Howard vs Smith matchup in goal tonight. Would you roll both just to get a win and hope for a 1 goal game, or should I pick one and roll Lundqvist as well? Lundy is playing at home against Tampa, so that may be a better option. I’ll keep checking LWL for starts, and obviously roll with whomever’s starting if they end up NOT starting tonight.

I guess Lundqvist is a better pick…who do you like more, Smith or Howard?

@VinWins: Yeah you notice how stars get away with those kinds of hits way more often than an average shmo?

@anon: Wow 2 months ago that trade would’ve been considered insane, but now I think I’d take the Seguin/Suter side. You’ll take a hit on PIM’s but all the other cat’s (especially +/-) will see improvement.

@Mal: Thanks I appreciate it. Keep reading and commenting! And hey that’s some awesome Goaltending.. Go with Lundqvist and Howard

Hopkins could go pointless from here to the All-star break and he’s already exceeded fantasy expectations. 30 points at this stage for his age is astonishing.

@DC: Sure, that’s the way it has always been. It was a pretty sneaky hit though, and probably didn’t look like much to the refs.

@Randy BoBandy: Indeed. Oiler fans should be extremely excited to have him and Hall for the next many years.

Whenever I look at Philly’s team report via Yahoo they state Matt Read is playing LW. It has been like that for roughly 2 weeks at least. Is Yahoo wrong? Or could he be a poor mans Patrick Sharp if they ever give him eligibility there?

Would you drop Shattenkirk or Jack Johnson to add Liles?
