Hey everyone!  Per usual, we start off by examining the latest injuries around the league and their impact to their teams and fantasy owners.  From there, we talk about the situation the Ottawa Senators are in regarding Erik Karlsson‘s contract, Kyle Turris‘ interview about his end in Ottawa, and where the organization is going.  After that, we examine the playoff picture in both conferences and determine who are the locks to make it in and pick the teams that we think will be in the Stanley Cup Playoffs come April.  At the end, we wrap things up with Three Point Challenge picks.  Be sure to make your pick below. All of that and more in the latest edition of the Razzball Hockey Podcast!

  1. Full line-up. Looks like a very busy night. Man, did Halak really stink it up last night?! 2 GA in the 1st, 2 GA in the 2nd, with 16 saves. Brutal. I was considering holding him too, but instead I’m streaming Dell, hopefully tonight, then Darling has a match-up w/Sabres (Chad Johnson) tomorrow, or leaning McElhinney @ Detroit. My Red Wings have been on a slide…

@madden_curser: Yeah, that Halak start ended up being worst case scenario. Like the Dell stream tonight, should be a low scoring game with Calgary. Darling would be in a nice spot if Johnson is in but McElhinney is nice too for sure.

18 team league dynasty max 2 active goalies. have these:
    jarry/stalock
    IR/IR+ dubnyk
    NA parsons (max 5 slots)
need to start 3 per week minimum, only 1 starts per day.
safe enough to drop jarry yet or wait to see murray hold up over a start? options:
howard (recently dropped, but i’d be better off streaming others)
brossoit (actually been best of these 3 lately)
reimer (same as howard but at least has had moderately less turrible save %’s lately)
and this mix for streaming: nilsson, condon, ward, miller and worse.

@Yr Never Too Old For Balloons: I think I’d feel safe dropping Jarry. Brossoit has been pretty good but Talbot is very close so I’d lean towards just streaming the spot.

    Viz!

I’m in a keeper but we can only keep 6 guys and interested in where you think Barzal will slot in your rankings next year. I know there is a lot of season left but he looks great as a rookie. I’m in a 10 team league so do you think he will be a top 60 guy going forward?

    Thanks!

@LG Football: Hey LG! So I feel very good about Barzal being a top 60 guy eventually but it might be in 2019-20 instead of next season. That said, he might be close enough to at least warrant consideration keeping given that he’s just 20 years old. The key will be getting the shot rate up towards 3 when it’s barely over 2 now. Since he’ll never be a big penalty minute guy, the shot rate is necessary for him to be top 60 unless he’s putting up 65+ points (which seems well within reason now).

In short, I do believe he’ll get to that level eventually but I’m convinced it will be next season yet (he’ll definitely be top 100 but I don’t know where yet, too far away). I wouldn’t pencil him in as a keeper where you keep 6 but I certainly wouldn’t rule it out.
