Hey guys! Sven here wishing all you Razzball readers a happy and healthy 2019. We are back with the first buy/sell/hold of the year!
ALL STATS ARE AS OF THE MORNING OF JANUARY 3RD.
BUY:
Tomas Tatar – 40GP 14-17-31. Tomas…. Tatarrrrrrrr! We’ve learned in his 40 games with Montreal that this guy scores in bunches. With seven points in his last four games, he is still a very good streaming option despite his horrible %change in %OWN on ESPN.
David Perron – 36GP 13-12-25. We are now starting to see glimpses of Vegas Perron, as he is chipping in some much-needed offence at #1LW for the Blues. Provided he remains first line, he is a solid pick up in deeper leagues.
Jared Spurgeon – 38GP 4-15-19. Like a Spurgeon, logging minutes for the first time! With Dumba on the shelf for a few months, Spurgeon is the undisputed #1RD for the Wild now. This means a much heavier load and plenty more opportunity to chip in offensively. He will need a few games to adjust, but Spurgeon should be able to find the net… And as I’m typing this, he just put home his first goal and third point of the afternoon against the Leafs.
Matt Duchene – 35GP 16-24-40. The Sens #1C is back and is already logging big-time minutes. It’s his contract year and the team has nowhere to go but up, so expect Duchene to have an electrifying second half!
Erik Gustafsson – 39GP 8-14-22. I have mentioned this guy before, but the TOI is steadily climbing more than ever for the young Hawks dman. With Keith and Seabrook now the grizzled veterans on their back-end, look for Gustafsson to carry the load offensively. He is one of my early picks as far as sleepers next year goes.
SELL:
Travis Konecny – 39GP 9-12-21. After an amazing second half last season, Konecny just hasn’t produced as much as I would have liked for the Flyers. The even strength minutes are still there as he is still at #1RW, so you should be able to get a decent return for him.
Kasperi Kapanen – 39GP 14-11-25. Nylander skating with the Matthews line means the end of fantasy relevance for Kasperi the Friendly Ghost. It was fun while it lasted!
HOLD:
William Nylander – 11GP 0-2-2. Nylander’s return has been nothing short of underwhelming since he dramatically held out on re-signing until December 1st. He should be on the Matthews line for the Leafs from here on out, so the points are bound to start coming. As I am typing this on Thursday afternoon, he actually just tucked his first of the year!
Ryan McDonagh – 40GP 3-20-23. I have mentioned time and time again just how spread-out Tampa’s scoring is, and nothing has changed. McDonagh is still receiving PP#2 time and solid even-strength minutes, so keep him around.
