The time has come!  The NHL has reached an agreement to start a 56 game season on January 13th.  You know what that means!?  Fantasy hockey is back!  I’m returning once again as the commander of Razzball hockey and I wanted to give a preliminary schedule for what’s going to be happening in this space over the next couple weeks before the season starts.

Obviously with how compressed things are, we don’t have a lot of time for preparation.  Luckily for you guys, I’ve been doing some work over the past few weeks in anticipation of the league having a season.  I will start posting positional rankings on Monday, the 28th.  Since the season starts in twenty days, writing a few sentences on every player is going to be impossible on my end.  To be honest, do you really need me to write 50-100 words about why Connor McDavid should go first overall?  Of course not.  However, I really want to get my rankings out there as soon as possible for all of your drafts.  Consequently, here’s my plan.

Monday: Goaltending tiers

Tuesday: Defensemen tiers

Wednesday: Top 50 Forwards Tiers

Thursday: Top 100 Forwards Tiers

Friday: Top 200 Overall List

If there’s something notable about a ranking e.g. I’m much higher or lower than consensus on somebody, they’re already injured, etc., I will write about them in more detail and pass over the guys where we know with relative certainty what they’re going to be.  I will order the guys in each tier but they will be subject to change over the next couple weeks.  If your draft is before next Thursday (you can piece together the first four posts to make the top 200), let me know in the comments section and I’ll see what I can do to help you out.  In the first week of 2021, I’ll have some sleeper / bust posts, a look at the league’s schedule from a fantasy perspective, early season streamers / picks for the last round or two, and anything else that you guys want to read.

Additionally, if any of you readers would like to write for the website, or know anyone who would like to join the Razzball writing team, let me know in the comments section below.  It’s been a long nine months, but we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.  I’ll be back on Monday starting the sprint to opening puck drop.  Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you in Razzball Nation!
