Hey guys!  The hockey season is only a couple days away and that means time is running out to join, or even better, create, a Razzball Commenter League.  The first league is full but there is still room in the second and we’d like to have multiple drafts that go on Tuesday night before the season starts on Wednesday.  Please follow the steps below to join or create a league to show your hockey prowess!

To Start A League:

  • Click “Create ESPN Custom”.
  • Enter in a League Name.  Set the number of teams to 12, Restriction Type: None, and to “Public Access”.
  • Select “Roto Scoring Type”.
  • Set the Draft Type as “Snake”.
  • Choose your Draft Date and Time.
  • Leave basic settings and rosters the same.  DO NOT change the games played limit maximums.
  • Remove “Average Time on Ice” and “Power Play Points” as categories; add “Special Teams Points”.
  • Click Submit League

Once you have finished this, there is one more step.  Go to your league’s home page and copy the link to the league.  Copy and paste that link into the Google Sheet here and fill out your league information.

Simply examine the Google Sheet below, find a league and draft time that works for you, and click the “LINK” button in “League Link” column to be taken to the leagues home page. If the league is invite only, please email the contact.

That’s it.  I have set up the first league and I encourage the commenters to set up many more!  Find a draft date that works for you and join that league.  If you have any problems, please ask me in the comment section below and I will get back to you as soon as possible.  Good luck everyone!

20 teamer. i dropped backlund (CGY) to gamble on getting back bonino but at pick 19 no go.
    C crosby/turris/backlund/larkin/fabbri
    LW – kunitz/dupuis/burakovsky/bailey/couture
    RW – malkin/downie/wingels/hornqvist
D orpik/letang/maatta/daley/despres/stone (now first pair, dude already was a hits + blocks beast considering he actually scores some pts, other hits + blocks guys don’t, excepting top tier guy you simply can’t get in 20 team leagues)
    G fleury/c.anderson
NA pouliot/fiala/morrisey/kapanen/barbashev/timo meier (sounds like a good power winger)

Right now have to drop 1 NA guy and probably will have to drop another if/when Fabbri gets sent down after game 8. Which two, and which first?

      Viz says:

@goodfold2: Hmm, it’s very close. I think I’d drop Kapanen first and then Morrissey. I’m a big Fiala and Meier fan going forward and Barbashev is in a great spot to succeed in the future. Pouliot should be able to help this year as well.

      • goodfold2 says:

@Viz: interesting about kapanen < meier. The overall lists aren't out yet that compare new drafted guys to older guys. Pouliot till like 2 days ago was on PIT and i figured i could stash an extra guy with his slot. So i'm guessing Kapanen you don't think will do that much, or is it more about TOR vs NAS? Both i think aren't really gonna get much grit stats (hits/blocks/PIMS). Barbashev certainly sounds like all around hockey guy. Most surprising about Morrisey, everything i'm reading spells him out as all around banger that can score pts too. I am just seeing that THN had Fiala (14) ranked much higher than Kapanen (37)than i had thought, i probably had attached more value to him last year since he was on PIT. Morrisey they had quite high too (18). Barbashev ranked 30th.

          Viz says:

@goodfold2: While Morrissey is a better prospect than a lot of those guys, I tend to lean towards keeping potential high end forwards in formats like this. It sucks to have to make that decision soon so hopefully you only have to cut Kapanen. The development of Trouba and whether the Jets re-sign Big Buff will have a big role in how much the Jets count on Morrissey in the short and long term.

          • goodfold2 says:

@Viz: really high end D guys who can both score pts AND hits + blocks + PIMs are rare. But i see the forwards over them thing, as D men often take much longer to be useful in this way, Ekblad’s are str up rare.

currently we’re all having to deal in yahoo with utter garbage like
            A. first having to wait really long time for NA tags, and worse
            B. sometime yesterday the guys who had NA tags the tags went away, even though the players weren’t called back up, making adds impossible.
All of this still is better than what yahoo does in baseball, where at least 100 out of top 300 prospects aren’t even in system at all.

            • Viz

              Viz says:

@goodfold2: Yeah that’s true, I’m just not sure how long it will take for the points to translate to Morrissey’s game once he makes the NHL. The forwards are safer. I wish there was a better site for fantasy hockey; Yahoo and ESPN both have their issues.

              • goodfold2 says:

@Viz: with all of this utter yahoo last 2 days b.s. (guys who were NA and should be from 2 days ago lost tags, and some IR or IR+ guys can’t be slotted) i had to lock all adds for all owners. This is actually just what i might need to move my leagues to fantrax. Best PR Fantrax ever had is how yahoo works, with no communication at all about a massive error (that is very slowly being fixed, some guys who weren’t slotable 12 hours ago for IR now are, still no NA’s yet though).
good news is Zadorov not only wasn’t scratched he’s getting top minutes here. I saw like two days ago (right after i drafted him) that he was a bubble guy. possible scratching etc. In dynasty i still would’ve grabbed him, but i wasn’t expecting nearly 14 minutes in 2 periods (3rd on team)

      Viz says:

@JoeCool: Looks pretty good! Three quality goalies for 12 man and a lot of scoring. The only weakness is your defense so you will need to pay attention to who is getting bigger roles and grab them off the waiver wire once the season starts.

  3. Scott says:

Just got the last slot in RCL 3!

  4. Scott says:

The pesos league is full. are we going to draft?

    • Viz

      Viz says:

@Scott: Trying to get a hold of Pesos now to have it draft tonight.

      • Scott says:

        @Viz: I guess it’s too late now?
