Hi all, and welcome to week 9 of the NHL season. We’re back to a more normal schedule this week, no Holidays, lots of games, and a few good streaming options.

  • As it’s a typical weekly schedule of games our off-days this week are Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday. With the remaining days being busy days around the league.
  • The top 9 teams by strength of schedule (which encompass all of the teams playing the league high of 4 games this week) are listed in the table below.
  • The 3 three teams who play only 2 games this week are: Anaheim, L.A., and Tampa.

Top Streaming Targets for the Week:

  • Dallas is by far the best team to stream this week with 4 games all on off-nights. More than likely there’s not a ton of great Stars left on your waiver wire as they’ve just about all been scoring at a torrid pace recently but I’ll throw out a few names to check on. Father time eventually catches up to us all and it seems like Jamie Benn – LW is starting to show his age between last season and 2025 so far. He’s seeing a bottom six role on a Dallas offense with a lot of young talented mouths to feed. However, the veteran will not be completely denied as the Stars’ still value his veteran presence on the first powerplay (with Hintz, Robertson, and Johnston). He’s currently under 60% rostered on ESPN and 50% on Yahoo. And with a modest but decent 13 points in 23 games he’s worth a pickup if possible for this week. If you’re in need of a defenseman Esa Lindell is a great choice this week and is low rostered (18% on ESPN, 7% on Yahoo). Lindell isn’t a points powerhouse but has contributed 9 points in 23 games while averaging 21:53 TOI. If your league counts hits and blocked shots he’ll also deliver those in spades.
  • Toronto’s schedule is also fantastic this week but be sure that you have the roster space for the Saturday busy-night game. My primary pickup from the Leafs is Matthew Knies – LW and he’s my stream of the week this week as well. Knies is seeing top line deployment alongside Matthews and Nylander as well as 1st PP time. He’s criminally under-rostered currently and his rostership probably even went down a few percent recently when he missed two games with an upper-body injury. He’s currently 36.4% rostered on ESPN and 40% rostered on Yahoo. There’s a good chance he’s available in your league and with his deployment and ice time I imagine we see multiple points this week as long as he remains healthy.
  • I feel I’d be remiss not to mention Will Cuylle – RW of the NY Rangers this week. The Rangers have been in a serious offensive funk lately but this man… oh boy… this man surely has not. He has been absolutely on fire for weeks now and has been one of their best and only consistent offensive producers recently. They’ve stuck Cuylle on the top line with Panarin and the newly-returned from injury Filip Chytil to try to shake things up and get the offense going again. He’s also seeing second PP time and with his new deployments a significant uptick in minutes (in the 4-5 minute range) of ice time. His rostership has been steadily climbing as more and more managers are taking notice of his production but he’s still less than 50% rostered at the time of this writing on both ESPN and Yahoo. He’s easily worth the pickup for this week and likely a hold beyond that, especially if the Rangers can get their offense humming again soon.

That’s all for this week. As always, please leave any questions about the schedule, streaming, etc. in the comments section below!
