Hey guys! Sven back with the Buy, Sell, Hold segment for the second year. It’s pretty straight forward, players who are buys: you should pick up. Players who are sells: you should think about dropping or trading. Players who are holds: you may be thinking about dropping but don’t just yet! Just for clarification, the % I am going to put next to the players’ stat line is their %own on ESPN. For Buys, I usually focus on guys with a %own less than 50%. Let’s get started! This is a quick one today as I have been very busy, but I will try to start pumping these out every week again.
ALL STATS ARE AS OF THE MORNING OF DECEMBER 1
BUY – David Krejci (20GP 5-14-19, 52.7%own)
No Bergeron? No problem. Krejci has stepped up in a big way for the B’s, and even once Berg is back I can see him using this momentum going forward. Last season wasn’t a fluke, and when healthy Krejci provides an excellent 1-2 punch.
Joel Armia (24GP 9-5-14, 19%own)
The shot rate is ridiculous as of late, and the goals have come in his last two games. The TOI is up as of late as well, so I feel like Armia will be a nice buy-low that most fantasy players have forgotten about since his great start.
Brandon Montour (13GP 2-4-6, 13.5%own)
With Dahlin out indefinitely, the table is set for Montour to QB the star-studded Sabres PP1. The TOI won’t necessarily be there, but the offensive opportunity will certainly be. If you have some Dmen struggling on your team, give Montour a go!
SELL – James van Riemsdyk (27GP 5-6-11, 57.6%own)
JVR’s season thus far has been disappointing, but things have gotten worse as of late. Three of the last five games, his TOI has dipped below 12 minutes. In addition, he skated on the fourth line last game. That’s enough to be a sell in Sven’s book.
HOLD – Joe Pavelski (27GP 5-7-12, 81%own)
Here me out on this. A few years ago, Pavelski was my second-round pick and he got off to an incredibly slow start. I waited it out, and he had an unbelievable second-half. I’m not saying this is going to happen again, but he is in a great situation to pop off here. In his last eleven games, there were four games where he logged over 20 minutes. His shot rate isn’t too bad, so it’s just a matter of time in my opinion. Be patient!
