Per the request of John Tortorella Sean Avery is back in the Big Apple. It’s good to hear those two are friends again…. HA!  I can only hope that the Rangers start tanking cuz if they do, the shizz will hit the fan.  I still don’t see how this little relationship can end well, just remember to enjoy it because this is probably Avery’s last shot in the NHL.  Fantasy wise, Avery ain’t getting near enough minutes to be rosterable in any league. Just keep your ears peeled for his next ridiculous statement…

Joffrey Lupul – LW/RW (Tor):  Yes the hat trick was going to be the lead, then I remembered I hate Joffrey Lupul.  Let me make this clear:  His value will never be higher than it is right now.

Tim Connolly – C (Tor):  T.C. is a bonafide Waiver Wire All Star and right now he’s producing (mainly on Lupul’s line) but once Lupul goes cold so will Connolly.

David Clarkson – RW (NJ):  I refuse to talk about any other players on the Devils.  Clarkson gets a mention because A) His initials  B) 1st Goal last night  C) 12G/192SOG/116PIM last season.  That’s some Grade A top-choice FAGNOF.

Scott Hartnell – LW (Phi):  5 Goals AND 5 Assists in his last 5 Games.  That’s what I call catching up.  He’s now in the Top 50 overall with 5G/7A/+6/14PIM/21SOG.  My prediction? 65 Points, +20 and 120PIM’s.

Martin Brodeur – G (NJ):  Almost forgot to mention the awful performance by ol’ Marty.  And when I say ol’ I mean f**king ancient.  A bruised shoulder kept him out for 3 weeks, just wait until he pulls a hamstring or god forbid, strains a groin.  The sickest part though is that I still wouldn’t recommend dropping him..  I…..still…..have…………….hope…

James van Riemsdyk – LW (Phi):  JvR doesn’t get much love from me on this blog, but he still has the potential to be a #2LW.. It won’t be on any of my teams though.  I heard James van Reims-Dyk!

Luke Adam – C (Buf):  A Goal and an Assist extends his point streak to 4 Games (1G/4A).  As long as Vanek and Pominville stay healthy Luke Adam is a legit #2 fantasy Center.

Radim Vrbata – RW (Phx):  I have a hard time determining where Vrbata fits in the Waiver Wire pantheon.  I think he’s an All Star (24 Goals in ’09 & 27 in ’07) but it’s just always tough for me to buy into Phoenix forwards.

Ray Whitney – LW (Phx):  Damn you Ray Whitney!  I refused to believe that at the age of 39 you were going to lead the Coyotes in scoring, but here you are…  Whatever you and Teemu are smokin’ I’d like to try it!

Mike Smith – G (Phx):  Another good game and his season stats are now rock solid: 5W/2.40GAA/.927SV%.  That’s better than Luongo, Ryan Miller, Carey Price, Antti Niemi and Pekka Rinne.  Here’s all you need to know:  Mike Smith is the #1 Goalie on a Dave Tippett coached team, and Dave Tippett coached teams don’t allow alotta Goals.

And now it’s time to sleep…. Seacrest OUT!!!!

  1. JagrBomb says:

    Start Fleury or Lundqvist tonight?

  2. DC

    DC says:

    @JagrBomb: That’s a tough one but I think I’d go with the guy at home (Lundqvist).. Keep checking LeftWingLock though to see who starts. Maybe the decision will be made for you.

  3. theevilempire says:

    @DC Pick 3 for tonight:

  4. Cheese

    Cheese says:

    Connolly does centre Phil Kessel as well (a legit star unlike Lupul)… The only way Connolly goes cold is if he gets injured. So he should go cold soon. Very soon.

  5. Mallow says:

    A few of those goals last night weren’t necessarily Marty’s fault. He wasn’t at his sharpest (basically his 1st game of the season), but you gotta think the Devils will tighten up in front of him. That save he made on Kessel was fabulous too.

  6. DC

    DC says:

    @theevilempire: Hossa, Lupul, Clowe.

    @Cheese: Yes what you say is accurate..

    @Mallow: At least 2 of those Goals were 100% on Marty. Regarding the great Save, I liken it to hitting a solo homer when you’re team is down 12-1, who gives an F?

  7. BeatBox says:

    Ladd, Hornqvist, Vrbata, or Callahan the rest of the season? Gracias

  8. DC

    DC says:

    @BeatBox: Vrbata..Callahan……….Hornqvist..Ladd

  9. ben_smith says:

    one year, G,A,+/-,PIM,PPP,SHP,GWG,SOG – who do you like, Leddy, Potter, Kulikov?

  10. Lines says:

    Ladd or Kane? Is Ladd really worth holding in a 10-teamer?

  11. Theinfamous1 says:

    Craig Anderson or Jonas Enroth tonight? Anyone?

  12. DC

    DC says:

    @ben_smith: Kulikov

    @Lines: Kane and yes Ladd is droppable in 10 team league

    @Theinfamous1: Enroth (assuming he starts)

  13. charlie batch says:

    what do you think of antoine vermette? i see 31 shots and 0 goals but 6 points on the year.. could be about to get extremely hot?

  14. Lines says:

    @DC: Thanks, dude.

    Tyler Myers hit the wire in the same 10-teamer. Seems like unusually rich pickings… I know he’s lost a lot of TOI, especially on the PP. Is he still more valuable than Carle, Bieksa or Carlson? I had planned on losing Carle, since even with Pronger out, he’s still on the 2nd pair (and never shoots). Your thoughts, Oh Esteemed Guru?

  15. DC

    DC says:

    @charlie batch: Vermette is streaky so yeah he could get hot at any minute..

    @Lines: Guru I am not, just go back and look at some of my preseason rankings.. LOL.. And I would keep those 3 over Myers. Really down on the big Texan..
