When Dwayne Roloson was born, Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker were still playing together in a band (Blind Faith, not Cream). The Mets were four days away from winning their first World Series. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid was the top grossing movie in the U.S. Roloson first joined the NHL in 1996; his career spans three decades. Yet, the 42 year old still stopped 35 of 38 shots Monday night to get the win. Even though he is even older than Jaromir Jagr and his ESPN player page makes him look like he watched his father hack his mother to pieces, he is stable enough to be a starting goalie for a team sort of still in the playoff hunt. The Lightning have games today, Thursday and Saturday. So do a lot of other teams, mind you, but if you need help in goalie, he is less than 50% owned in most fantasy leagues.
Jaime Benn – He scored 2 goals Monday night to make his March total 8 goals in 12 games (11 points). Where has Jaime been? On your waiver wire.
Mike Cammalleri – He had a goal and two assists. On Saturday, his first game back from injury, he netted a goal. If he’s on your roster, you should be slotting him in. If he’s in your casino, he should be slotting you.
Zac Rinaldo – 12 PIM! That’s more penalty minutes than points he has all season (8). His real world value far exceeds his fantasy value, but I’m in the same boat; no one fantasizes about me.
Red Wings – Henrik Zetterberg (+2) and Todd Bertuzzi (+5) each earned 4 assists on the night. Prior to Monday’s game, they each only had 3 points in the month of March. Nice of them to join the party as the Red Wings drop 7 on the lowly Blue Jackets.
Craig Anderson – The son of Ander stopped 44 of 48 shots as Winnipeg barraged him with pucks. It was the NHL’s version of bukkake (don’t Google Image Search that if you are somehow unfamiliar with the term).
Erik Karlsson – The son of Karl gained 3 assists on Monday, doubling his total for March and bringing his points total to 10…for March. We’re still talking about March. Except at this point. We’re done. For now.
Roberto Luongo – Cory Schneider has started a few of Vancouver’s games recently, but Luongo was in net on Monday and stopped 38 attempts for his fourth shutout of the year. In his prior two starts, he had a 1.93 GAA and .948 SV%. Schneider’s last two starts tallied 1.01 GAA and .966 SV%. That’s a nice problem for Vancouver, but not as much fun for fantasy owners trying to win their H2H playoffs.
Joe Pavelski – He scored two against Colorado. He only has 5 points in the last two weeks, so it is nice to see him come around a bit. I wrote “scored” and “come” and didn’t mention the fact that “Joe Pavelski wife” is what Google autocomplete recommended when I typed his name. Well, now it’s mentioned. I was hoping for some sexy pics but I just got this article about her finding a dog. That doesn’t excite me! Mostly.
