We’re a couple weeks into the season so it’s time to take a look at the waiver wire to find additional help for your team. Without further adieu, let’s hop over the boards and identify players who can help you out. Availability percentages refer to Yahoo leagues.
Radim Vrbata Phoenix (4o percent owned) Vrbata has been sighted on the second line recently with Mikkel Boedkker and Martin Hanzal. Vrbata also gets a good chunk of power play time for the Coyotes too so he can add that to your team. Vrbata (4-2–6, 2PPP) has the ability to provide some extra punch for your team.
Mason Raymond Toronto (39 percent owned) is the complimentary piece to go with Tyler Bozak and Phil Kessel at even strength. He’s also on the top power play unit Nazem Kadri and Joffrey Lupul so the opportunities are there. Raymond (4-4–8, 3PPP) would make a nice depth add to most teams.
Damien Brunner New Jersey (28 percent owned) has led the Devils in scoring this season with 3-2–5, 1PPP and was solid last season too. Brunner is currently day-to-day with an upper body injury but could add some punch to your lineup. Even though the Devils are off to a miserable start there still is value on poor teams.
Teemu Selanne Anaheim (27 percent owned) is on his final tour of duty in the league and has picked it up as of late. Selanne (3-3–6, 1PPP) and has goals in three straight games and all of his points have come in the last five games. He’s hot. Go for it.
Derek Morris Phoenix (6 percent owned) is off to a good start to the season with a 2-4–6 line and 1 PPP for the Coyotes. He just got back on the ice after dealing with a lower-body injury. Morris gets paired with Keith Yandle at even strength but isn’t getting much time on the power play. Despite that, try to find a defenseman with six points who’s available as widely as he is.
Both Calgary goaltenders are up on the waiver wire and could help with a spot start to meet your league’s requirements. Joey MacDonald (19 percent owned) has three wins for the Flames with a 2.99 goals against average and a .891 save percentage. The stats don’t blow you away but three wins is three wins. Karri Ramo (26 percent owned) looks to get the start tonight for the Flames but is the weaker of the until he proves it on the ice.
