It’s that time again. Friday/Sunday stream targets to finish out the week. Get those claims in today so you don’t miss out! Unless you’re in one of them fancy same-day adds leagues. Good week for Friday/Sunday splits; we’ve got a whoppin’ six teams on the docket this week. Colorado, Florida, Nashville, New York Rangers, Vancouver, and Vegas.
Note: For the sake of uniformity and convenience on my part, only players rostered in less than 50% of Yahoo leagues will be included. Also, a “***” denotes a priority stream, in my humble opinion.
Colorado Avalanche (v. DET, v. FLA)
***Valeri Nichushkin (28%): This dude is scorchin’ hot. Scoring, shooting, and hitting lately. Scoring a ton. Ice time is going up and the results are as well. Eligible at LW/RW. Easy priority stream. In his last 12 games, he’s got 11 PTS (7 G, 4 A) along with 24 SOG. He was doing a perfect 1 hit per game early on, but has at least 2 hits in five straight games (13 hits overall in that time).
Erik Johnson (13%): Always a solid bang stream. Good for bangs only, of course.
That’s all. Colorado guys are all too widely owned. Bowen Byram would be on this list if I knew he’d play.
Florida Panthers (@ ARZ, @ COL)
Gustav Forsling (16%): Forsling is a wizard in takeaway leagues, so this a very niche pick (cuz like Colorado, Florida guys are all mostly snatched up). Forsling can chip in with the points some, but is really only useful for peripherals. Peripheral guys are really only good in category leagues unless 1). they provide massive amounts of peripherals and/or 2). peripherals have weighty point values in points leagues.
Frank Vatrano (7%): Vatrano doesn’t get many minutes, but he still manages to shoot a solid amount and sometimes will hit well too. Stream if you need help in those two areas (and if you find options to be thin).
Nashville Predators (@ NJ, @ NYR)
***Ryan Johansen (28%): RyJo been racking up apples like he’s Johnny Appleseed. Johansen has 15 A on the year and like all of them have come in his last 9 GP. Okay, 11 have come in those last nine, but you get the idea. Has also scored 2 G in that time, so 13 PTS in his last 9 is pretty sexy if you ask me. Five of those assists have been of the power play variety. Gotta add this guy right now.
Tanner Jeannot (9%): Jeannot gives you the odd point but really is just a good stream for hits. Has 21 H in his last 7 GP, so that’s a nice even 3 H/G in that span. Check my math on that; I’m an English teacher for a reason.
Eeli Tolvanen (8%): Tolvy has a goal in each of his last two games and gets some PP time, so he’s one to keep half an eye on. Very talented dude, just hasn’t put it together consistently at the NHL level. Shooting the puck pretty consistently though, which I love to see from a youngster. Adds some hits and even a smattering of blocks.
New York Rangers (@ BUF, v. NSH)
Really all the good Rangers are owned just about everywhere. Random PSA: if Jacob Trouba happens to be available in your league, you need to add him. Thinking along the lines of standard leagues where he’s more likely to be available, but he’s shooting like crazy and hitting like crazy and actually scoring goals. As for streaming, I’m not excited by Alexis Lafreniere or Kaapo Kakko, so I wouldn’t even bother with them. You can stream Ryan Reaves for hits and Barclay Goodrow for hits+blocks, which are kinda rare from a forward. Plus he’s eligible at C/LW/RW. Dryden Hunt is randomly seeing some increased minutes lately, providing decent SOG+H and the odd point. Your streaming buck is best spent on other rosters methinks.
Vancouver Canucks (v. WPG, v. CAR)
Tanner Pearson (3%): Pearson is probably your best best to stream from the Nucks, seeing top-six minutes and PP2 time lately. Has 2 H, 1 A, 18 SOG, 11 H, and 5 BLK over his last 7 GP. Not awful in a banger cats league. Back on Monday he had himself a game: 1 A, 1 PPP, 6 SOG, 4 H, and 2 BLK.
All of a sudden, everybody worthwhile in Vancouver is on a roster. There’s always Tyler Myers for blocks if you need him, and there’s Luke Schenn for hits. Nils Hoglander really ain’t worth a flip right now, so you can breeze on past him on your wire. Vasily Podkolzin is more interesting and saw 15+ TOI last game. Thought he’d hit a lot more, so that’s been disappointing. Talented kid, though!
Vegas Golden Knights (v. PHI, v. MIN)
Evgenii Dadonov (13%): Daddy has 3 PTS in his last 2 GP and has been flirting with some PP1 time. Back when they played Arizona, he led all Vegas forwards in PPTOI, picking up a PP assist. His overall ice time kinda sucks, but might as well capitalize on this PP1 deployment while you can if ya need to.
Nicolas Hague (10%): Hague has been a nice surprise this year. Not great by any means, but very serviceable overall. The shot volume is pretty strong for a D-man, he hits every now and then, and blocks shots too. Can’t make much of a case for him in points leagues, though there’s category value here. There are worse streamers.
