For those of you watched the All Star “fantasy” draft I commend you.  Nothing like 40 incredibly awkward handshake-hugs between a bunch of guys who try and kill each other every night.  Not to mention (what I’d guess) are a series of really bad jokes and forced “banter” between the players.  Then to top it all off a guy gets completely embarrased by his peers, but it’s okay!  We’ll give him a brand new car for free!  The whole thing comes off as something dreamed up by a TV executive.  In fact if this draft was happening in my backyard, I’d close the blinds….  Now onto the important stuff:  Logan Couture.  I gotta be honest my love for Wolverine has declined slightly this season, but I can’t really explain why.  His stat line is deliciously filling: 21G/15A/+9/10PPP/143SOG and his dual eligibility is a nice bonus too…  Yeah, I’m ready to fall in love all over again…

Jiri Hudler – LW/RW (Det):  It was another good day for the Hud on Wednesday.  2 Goals gives him 15 on the season and puts him on pace for a career high.  HOWEVA, something is out of place when you look deeper into the numbers.  Those 15 Goals are on  just 69 Shots, giving him an incredible 21.7 Shooting %.  That’s higher than Steven Stamkos, Phil Kessel, and Evgeni Malkin.  In other words, don’t go put any bets on Hudler keeping up this pace.

Evgeni Malkin – C/RW (Pit):  Couldn’t let the pre All Star break fantasy MVP go unnamed.  (Unless you’re in the Hits and BS categories of course).   Geno has really gone bonkers this year and if he stays healthy, you’re looking at the 1st overall pick next year.  And I gotta be honest, I didn’t see that coming back in August.

Alexei Emelin  – D (Mon):  Not really sure what to do with that last name, but thats not why we’re here.  We’re here to celebrate his 1st career Goal in the NHL!  Oh wait…. This was his 37th game.  He’s 25 already?  And your career high in the KHL was 27 points?  Moving on…

Erik Cole – LW/RW (Mon):  Cole Power has been causing a ton of heat lately (2G/7A/+8 last 5 games). It’s crazy to think he’s on pace to set a career high in Shots.  He’s legitimately worthy of a roster spot in a 12 team league.  Just cross your fingers (or your heart) that he stays out of the trainer’s room…

Scott Gomez – C (Mon):  Oh wow I didn’t know Scotty was still in the league.  Interesting… Are you sure it’s the same Scott Gomez?  Okay then, well, I guess you learn something new every day huh?  Anyway he had an Assist last night to give him a whopping 7 on the season.  Sad to say he is still searching for that elusive first Goal.

Alright I hate to cut this short, but we had an 8 hour power outage last night (So Cal Edison moves at their own pace – they had to replace an entire transformer) and my internet connection is acting wonky.  I’ve got my All Star break Buy/Sell coming up soon though (since there are no real games again until Tuesday).  Talk to ya’ll later.  Seacrest OUT!
