Reid and I talked about Tristan Jarry extensively on last week’s podcast.  We said that he should be picked up immediately with Matt Murray out for at least a few weeks, mostly because the Penguins had a back-to-back against the hapless Sabres.  Well, Jarry delivered and then some in both games.  He started off with a 34 save shutout in Buffalo before allowing 1 goal on 33 shots in Pittsburgh on Saturday.  The schedule isn’t great this week with the Rangers, Islanders, and Maple Leafs on deck, but they’re all at home.  At the least, Jarry is a nice spec add to see how things go against better competition.  He’s still available in over 70% of leagues so go grab him now.  Let’s take a look at what else happened over the weekend:

Friday’s Games:

Sidney Crosby – Goal and an assist with three shots.  He’s had at least one point in all but one game in his career in Buffalo.  Seems decent.

Thomas Chabot – Goal and two assists.  Yessss!  Ottawa needs to free this kid because he’s their second best defenseman right now.  Obviously he’s must own in dynasties but I’m still hesitant to grab him in redrafts until the minutes increase.

Dion Phaneuf – Two assists with a shot.  Phaneuf has been his usual meh stat line across the board.  Odds are he has a massive PIM guy in the near time.

Bobby Ryan – Goal and an assist with two shots.  Hard pass.

Ryan Dzingel – Two goals on three shots.  I’d like to see the minutes go up because Dzingel has been solid in little playing time.  Nothing here for now but worth monitoring.

Josh Bailey – Two assists with two shots.  I’m going to start calling him J.A.B. with the A being for assists.  All he does is pile up assists.

Anders Lee – Two goals on five shots.  Lee was a player who kept falling to me in drafts despite scoring 34 goals last season with strong PIM.  Now, he’s a top 25 forward with the assists taking a significant jump.

Henrik Lundqvist – 32 saves on 33 shots in the 5-1 win over the Hurricanes.  He laid an egg against Florida but otherwise, Hank is rolling right now.

Michael Grabner – Hat trick on four shots.  Call Grabner “Mr. Empty Net” because after this game, he has 6 empty goals on the season already.  Nobody else has more than 2!  Donkers.  I mean, he has to be considered a decent streamer against with 13 goals in 26 games.

Adam Henrique – Assist with two shots in his Ducks debut playing over 18 minutes.  He then scored against Nashville Saturday getting huge minutes again so grab him if you need help now.  The Ducks are desperate for anyone at this point so Henrique should see around 20 minutes a game right now.

Josh Anderson – Goal and two assists with three shots.  My man!  He should be owned in all 12’ers at this point.

Artemi Panarin – Goal and two assists with four shots.  Hasn’t been a great first year in CBus but Panarin has been just fine and is starting to pick it up.  Their power play has been so bad it has to positively regress so I assume his numbers get back to its usual levels.

Pierre-Luc Dubois – Two assists with a shot.  Not enough here yet for redrafts but I’m seeing enough signs to justify my high praise in dynasties.  Massive upside here.

Brandon Dubinsky – Goal and an assist with three shots.  Bottom end streamer at best.

Aaron Dell – 39 saves on 40 shots in the 2-1 win over the Panthers.  Also talked about Dell extensively on the podcast linked above.  Grab him until Jones returns.

Darcy Kuemper – 39 saves on 40 shots in the 4-1 win over the Blues.  First Budaj last season, now Kuemper explodes as the Kings backup goalie.  With how well he’s played, you strongly have to consider streaming Kuemper every time he starts.

Tyler Toffoli – Two goals.  The minutes suck but he’s finding a way to score with an elite shot rate.  I don’t understand why Toffoli isn’t playing more so hopefully that changes.

Jake Muzzin – Two assists.  No standout categories for Muzzin so far outside of plus-minus but he’s been strong across the board.

Tanner Pearson – Two assists with a shot.  Middling streamer that I would use depending on the matchup.

Colin Miller – Goal and an assist with three shots and two PIM.  Solid for deeper leagues but not going here yet in a 12’er.  It’s getting closer though.

Blake Wheeler – Three assists with three shots.  I would have led the post with Wheeler but I’ve already done that a few times.  Let’s just say he’s a beast and move on.  Same goes with his linemates Mark Scheifele (1+2) and Kyle Connor (2G on 5 SOG), although Connor missed Sunday’s game.

Patrik Laine – Goal and two assists with five shots playing over 16 minutes.  Hopefully this weekend gets Laine back on track after somewhat of a rough November.

Tyler Myers – Goal and an assist.  Meh.  The numbers are decent enough everywhere that he deserves some consideration but I’d rather look elsewhere unless there’s an injury or the minutes go up for some other reason.

Nikolaj Ehlers – Goal and an assist with four shots.  Ehlers is starting to show some consistency, especially in the goal department as he’s on pace for over 30 goals at the moment.

Jesper Bratt – Goal and an assist.  He’s on the fringe but I would lean towards streaming Bratt rather than holding him, especially because he could lose his spot on the top line when Palmieri returns.

Cory Schneider – 22 saves on 23 shots in the 2-1 win over the Avalanche.  Good to see last season was the fluke for Schneider.

Saturday’s Games:

Tuukka Rask – 28 save shutout in the 3-0 win over the Flyers.  Ugly start to the season for Rask although he’s been solid since returning from injury.  Still don’t like him much going forward given the problems Boston has defensively.

Brad Marchand – Goal and an assist with two shots.  This was a game controlled by Boston’s first line as David Pastrnak also had two points while Patrice Bergeron had an assist.  Not much more to say about these guys, they’re all terrific and should be one of the best lines in hockey.

Devan Dubnyk – 41 saves on 42 shots in the 2-1 OT win over the Blues.  Dubnyk stole this game from the Blues getting his save percentage back to a respectable .916.  Should be a telling road trip for the Wild in California this week.

Matt Dumba – Goal and an assist with two PIM playing over 27 minutes.  Dumba should be owned everywhere while Jared Spurgeon is out with his groin injury.

Aleksander Barkov – Goal and an assist with four PIM.  It’s no surprise that Sasha is on pace for career high across the board.  Just stay healthy!

Elias Lindholm – Goal and an assist with five shots.  Decent streamer but Lindholm hasn’t taken another step forward like I hoped.

Jeff Skinner – Goal on nine shots with four penalty minutes.  Skinner is very close to last season’s pace despite a lower shooting percentage.

Cam Ward – 37 saves on 39 shots in the 3-2 OT win over the Panthers.  He’s been hit or miss and appears to be the clear backup to Darling.

Carey Price – 22 saves on 23 shots in the 10-1 (!) win over Detroit.  Price is what they refer to in these parts as “hotter than a pistol.”  And by they, I mean me.

Alex Galchenyuk – Four assists with three shots.  Not a great start to the year for Gally but he was starting to put things together before this game.  I wouldn’t hate a spec add but he’s a streamer at the least.

Paul Byron – Hat trick on four shots.  I’m not going to run through every Canadien player who had a big game because, well, it doesn’t hold much value.  Byron is a nice guy in deeper leagues for strong hits, solid PIM, and a high goal rate because of his high shooting percentage, which has proven to actually been sustainable for Byron.

Nic Deslauries – Goal and two assists with two shots.  The fact that Des had three points shows you all you need to know on the absurdity of this game.

Jimmy Howard – 5 saves on 9 shots in the loss, and it didn’t get much better for Petr Mrazek allowing his own five goals.  Still not a fan of these guys going forward.

Evgeni Malkin – Goal and an assist with eight shots and two PIM in his second game back (he had an assist in the first).  Get Geno back in your lineups immediately.

Patric Hornqvist – Goal and an assist with three shots.  He’s rolling right now with a five game point streak and ten points in his past nine.  Must own at the moment.

Kris Letang – Two assists with two shots.  If you could buy low on Letang since he has only one goal, I’d jump on it immediately.  All of the other numbers look great outside of plus-minus and he’s been a plus player over the past 10 (+4).

Tyler Johnson – Two goals on five shots playing over 19 minutes.  Very interesting.  I’m not rushing to grab Johnson but we’ve seen him be a beast in the past so monitor how his minutes are in the next couple games.  I would stream him Tuesday since he played on the first line in this one.

Nikita Kucherov – Two goals.  First line, second line, doesn’t matter one bit to the Kuch.

Jacob Markstrom – 35 saves on 36 shots in the 2-1 win over Toronto.  His numbers are decent enough but he’s ceded a fair number of starts lately to Nilsson.  Markstrom is a borderline #3 now.

Pierre-Luc Dubois – Two assists with two shots playing over 20 minutes.  Same story as above although Torts having the faith to play him these big minutes is exciting.

John Carlson – Two assists with a shot.  Like Letang, everything looks great outside of some bad luck in shooting percentage and a plus-minus that should fix itself.

Scott Wedgewood – 27 save shutout in the 5-0 win over the Devils.  Should have seen the Wedgewood revenge game coming!  I still have zero faith in him going forward.

Derek Stepan – Goal and an assist with three shots and two PIM.  We’re starting to see Stepan put together a great stretch with 10 points in 10 games and the shot rate is a career high.  I’d lean towards holding him still.

Kevin Connauton – Two assists.  Connauton always seems to produce when he gets a chance but that rarely happens and is less likely now with Jakob Chychrun‘s impending return.

Christian Fischer – Two assists with a shot.  I’ve been very impressed with Fischier’s game this season.  He’s raised his dynasty stock quite a bit in my eyes.

Cam Fowler – Goal and an assist with three shots playing over 28 minutes.  I expect him to start picking it up again, especially with the massive minutes with Vatanen departing.

Pekka Rinne – 33 saves on 35 shots in the 3-2 SO win over the Ducks.  Rinne hasn’t slowed down one bit from his playoff run last season.

Ben Bishop – 32 saves on 34 shots in the 3-2 SO win over the Blackhawks.  Bishop is a strong DFS tournament option in every Stars home game.  He’s been an absolute monster in Texas so far.

Jesse Puljujarvi – Two goals on four shots.  He’s on the first line right now making him a great streaming option in redrafts.

Milan Lucic – Goal and two assists with two shots.  He’s also on the first line now so I’d own him, mostly for the PIM.

T.J. Brodie – Two assists, not including putting a puck in his own net.  Really not a fan of Brodie but as long as he gets this power play time, he’ll give you assists if you need them.

Sam Bennett – Two goals on four shots.  I will not be suckered in again without an extended stretch of producing but he was their best forward in this game and that’s saying a lot with how the top line is rolling right now.

Sunday’s Games

Jonathan Quick – 24 saves on 25 shots in the 3-1 win in Chicago.  He’s on fire right now continuing the second best season of his career.

Anze Kopitar – Goal and an assist with two shots and two PIM.  He’s a Hart candidate right now in my mind, no doubt about it.

Dustin Brown – Goal and an assist.  Can’t believe he’s somewhat maintained his hot start but Browns still needs to be owned everywhere.

Anton Forsberg – 21 saves on 22 shots taking the loss because of two empty netters.  With Crawford out for a few more games, Forsberg is the guy.  I would much rather grab Jarry or Dell.

Connor Hellebuyck – 21 save shutout in the 5-0 win over the Senators.  Doesn’t get much easier than that.  Hellboy has taken firm control of the crease in the ‘Peg piling up the wins and great numbers across the board.

Blake Wheeler – Goal and three assists with six shots.  What a tank.  And just like that, Wheeler leads the NHL in assists.

Mathieu Perreault – Goal and two assists with five shots and two PIM.  With Connor out, Perreault filled in on the top line.  He’s an elite streamer while he’s in that spot.

Mark Scheifele – Goal and an assist with three shots.  No surprise that Scheifele continues to pile up the points.

Dustin Byfuglien – Two assists with four shots.  I don’t know how the hell Big Buff is still pointless but everything else checks out right now.  It’s weird to call him a five category stud without goals but that’s what he is right now.  I don’t think he’s going to shoot 0% for too long either.

Tyler Seguin – Two goals on four shots.  Seguin has been a monster over the last two weeks pushing over a point per game with four shots per.

Alexander Radulov – Two assists with four shots as the big three in Dallas were reunited.  Radulov has been excellent across the board.

John Klingberg – Two assists with a shot.  This puts Klingberg back on top for most assists in the league by a defenseman.

Brett Ritchie – Two goals on four shots with two PIM.  I’m not giving up hope for Ritchie but he’s buried down the depth chart at the moment.

Max Domi – Two assists with three shots.  While he’s struggling with goals because of an awful shooting percentage, Domi has five assists in the past five games.  He’s right on the fringe.

Jakob Chychrun – Goal on three shots playing 22:40 in his season debut.  Excellent to see him playing this many minutes right away.  I love Chychrun for dynasties but I want to see him play another game or two before grabbing him in 12’er redrafts.

Jonathan Marchessault – Goal and an assist with six shots.  As talked about on the podcast, I have no idea why Marchessault isn’t 100% owned.  “Corsi God,” as he’s referred to by the Vegas twitter account, it’s a six category stud in fantasy, no way around it.

Malcolm Subban – 31 saves on 33 shots in the 3-2 OT win over the Coyotes.  Must own until Fleury returns, whenever that may be.
