10 teamer and I have Karlsson, Chara, Doughty, Yandle, & Shattenkirk, so feeling pretty good about that group. Karlsson was one of two keepers, so of course I am impartial to say him. I don’t see the injury from last year having any direct effects, other than some early fatigue. I do like how Boston has been using Chara in front of the net. Seems to add another dimension to his game. Doughty already punched in a nice slap shot, but he wasn’t so offense minded last year. Maybe that was an anomaly, not the trend. I was just offered Taylor Hall & Cam Fowler for Chara and Alfredsson. Thinking a guy like Taylor Hall might be worth it. What do you think? Would you bight on that one? Thanks.

I’d stay with what you have. Alfredsson should fit in nicely in Detroit and Chara’s a monster. Hall has talent for sure but Fowler is the sticking point in the deal.

I’m new to all this shiz, but how about Subban?!

Really like Subban especially because of how effective he can be on the power play. They cashed in more than 20% of the time so he would be a solid play.

    Karlsson….no doubt.

    Points only – Karlsson
Multi-cat – Subban, with Phaneuf having sneaky value

Hard to argue Subban and Karlsson.. Also hard to pick one guy, but I think guys that aren’t big scorers get overlooked. The scorers are obviously the ones always in Norris talks. All that said, I will pick one, Chara. He does so many things that don’t go in the box score, it’s hard to find a better defender. I say that, regretfully, as a Rangers fan.

Chara adds a lot of intangibles and I agree with that. Driving to the front of the net is one of them but unless he tips it home, it doesn’t matter in fantasy perspective.

@Andrew Nordmeier: I should have reread the article and realized that you meant fantasy hockey… FAIL! No wonder I’ve been limited to Oikos commercials…

From a fantasy standpoint, i feel it’s Erik Karlsson followed by P.K. Subban.

If you look at the zscores (which is the number of standard deviations away from the mean), Erik Karlsson and PK Subban are the top 2 fantasy defenseman. However, in fantasy i favor the players that accumulate higher numbers in G, A and PPP. Based on this, I have to go with Karlsson. Subban offers a good amount of PIMs which tends skew his total z score. I hope this isn’t confusing. I understand z-scores but i struggle to explain it.

That’s a valid point. PIMs are a part of the game but they detract from a player’s potential in other areas.
