Craig Anderson of the Senators makes a save in this picture from the OC Register.

The Anaheim Ducks used a franchise-record 56-shot barrage to down the Ottawa Senators 4-1. Corey Perry scored twice for the Ducks to give them all the offense they need.  Nick Bonino and Ryan Getzlaf also scored for Anaheim while Bobby Ryan picked up the lone Ottawa goal. Hampus Lindholm had two assists and a +4 rating.

Jonas Hiller made 30 saves to get the win for the retro-clad Ducks while Craig Anderson took the loss. Anderson was yanked after allowing two goals on nine shots in the first 4:06 of the game. Robin Lehner was left to take on the barrage and stopped 45-of-47 shots he saw.

I wouldn’t be worried about Anderson right now. This is only the first real meltdown of the season and goaltenders will have some off nights. With the sheer number of shots, it would have been difficult for a goaltender to have success. Hiller was sharp between the pipes but hasn’t seized the starting role from Victor Fasth. If the Ducks power play got going, this could have been even worse. They finished o-for-6 on the man advantage.

Al Montoya turned in a 24-save shutout and the backup goaltender for the Winnipeg Jets blanked the New Jersey Devils 3-0. Evander Kane supplied the offense with a pair of goals. Andrew Ladd also scored late in the third period to seal the win. Michael Frolik continues his solid play with two more assists. Montoya’s still a backup and won’t see may starts so he’s not worth rostering.

Ben Scrivens made a 20-save shutout as the Kings blanked the Panthers 3-0. Daniel Carcillo, known more for his toughness, had a goal and an assist in the win. Scrivens is another backup and won’t see many starts.

The Coyotes knocked off the Hurricanes 5-3 with Rob Klinkhammer scoring twice. Mike Smith made 31 saves in the win. Anton Khudobin left the game with a leg injury and Cam Ward had to come on in relief. Ward winds up taking the loss. Klinkhammer isn’t consistent enough to warrant a pickup.
