The first quarter of the season is in the books. We’ve seen the West dominate the East. Tampa Bay was looking real good until Steven Stamkos broke his leg. The Pacific Division looks like it’s going to be a race to the end of the season.

Henrik Lundqvist and the NY Rangers continued to make life miserable for the Buffalo Sabres. Lundqvist recorded a 29-save shutout as the Rangers blanked Buffalo 2-0. Chris Kreider and Derick Brassard scored the goals.

Matt Moulson was sent from the NY Islanders to the Buffalo Sabres with a couple of draft picks for Thomas Vanek over the weekend. Moulson made his debut last night when the Sabres hosted the Stars.

The first shoe dropped in Buffalo as Thomas Vanek was sent to the NY Islanders for Matt Moulson, a first-round pick in 2014 and a second-round pick in 2015.

Buffalo has been dreadful to start the season at 2-10-1 and something had to be done.

The Los Angeles Kings held a 4-0 lead after the first period and thought they were on cruise control at home against the Phoenix Coyotes. Dwight King scored twice in the opening period and so did Anze Kopitar and Jordan Nolan.
