(In light of the events in Boston earlier in the day, we’re going to keep this wrap-up super-short. Each team will be limited to five words to describe them.)

Scott Hartnell recorded a hat trick as Philly downed Montreal 7-3. Claude Giroux, Wayne Simmonds and Jakub Voracek each also scored for the Flyers.

SPIN-PHI: Flyers show their full potential. SPIN-MTL: Good teams win this game.

Toronto blanked New Jersey 2-0. James Reimer made a 32-save shutout for the Leafs while Phil Kessel and Jay McClement scored for Toronto. New Jersey has dropped 10 straight games.

SPIN-TOR: Still fighting for home ice.   SPIN-NJD: We really miss Ilya Kovalchuk.

Vancouver downed Nashville 5-2 to end any chance the Predators making the playoffs. Ryan Kesler scored twice in the win and Roberto Luongo stopped 36 shots.

SPIN-VAN: Still hunting for second seed. SPIN-NSH: When do we tee off?

Chicago got its sixth straight win by shutting down Dallas 5-2. Jamie Benn scored twice for Dallas but it wasn’t enough to overcome the machine known as Chicago. Johnathan Toews scored his 21st goal of the season while Marian Hossa picked up his 16th of the season in the win.

SPIN-CHI: Seventy points and wanting more. SPIN-DAL: Fighting for the last spot.

Columbus knocked off Colorado 4-3 in overtime to get into a tie for the 8th seed in the West. Nick Foligno potted the winner with 29 seconds left in overtime to ruin Cody McLeod’s two-goal night for the Avs. Colorado was eliminated from playoff contention.

SPIN-CBJ: Win on road, make playoffs. SPIN-COL: Where’s the golf course at?

San Jose blanked Phoenix 4-0 with Antti Niemi making 35 saves to stymie the Coyotes. Logan Couture and Tommy Wingels each scored for the Sharks.

SPIN-SJS: One point behind home-ice. SPIN-PHX: Run the table or else.

Minnesota survived Calgary 4-3 with Jason Pominville scoring twice for the Wild. Nicklas Backstrom picked up his league-leading 21st win of the season.

SPIN-MIN: Five behind Vancouver, six remain.    SPIN-CGY: Playing out the string again.

Ottawa’s game at Boston was postponed due to the incident involving the Boston Marathon. The game will be played but the when is up in the air. The 26th-30th are open at the building so it could be one of those first two days to get it in within the confines of the season. Keep in mind the Celtics would host games 3 and 4 of a first-round playoff series in the Garden as well so that could complicate things. It’ll be important to the standings and seedings based on the outcome and it leaves the East up for grabs until the last minute. Stay tuned.
